"If you’re going to decipher Brit. speak about cars remember the boot is our trunk, the bonnet is our hood, the wind screen is our wind shield, a spanner is our wrench, petrol is our gasoline, left is our right and the manuals incomprehensible."

Additional Brit speak: "loo' for toilet, "macintosh" for raincoat, "pullover" for sweater, "anti-clockwise" for counter-clockwise, "pissed" for drunk,"blow me" for surprise me, "knockers" for breasts, "posh" for high class, "take a piss" is make fun of someone, and the classic "spend a penny" means going to the restroom.

I agree, it does look Byzantine.

The bottom figure does indeed to be wearing the garb of a Roman legionnaire, and I wonder if that is not intended to be Constantine. The problem, though is that the figure under the horse looks moorish to me, which would be anachronistic.

Here is a statue of Constantine:

The top figure appears to be Christ.

The second row could be a bishop on the left, and a Christian King on the right (Charlemagne?)

Yes, some of the electrical systems seem like revenge on the buyer.

It may have held the Holy Handgrenade of Antioch...

Templars did not muck about.

to me, the story seems all wrong, “1,300 yrs old” etc.

It looks Eastern Orthodox or Armenian Orthodox.

Thanks BlackVeil. All, please note, the term is used in quotes in the article body. The Knights Templar only began early in the 12th century.

It’s like “tailgate party” or “truck patch.” Stuff we make up to separate furrin’ spies from native citizens.

Not just King Phillip the Fair of France, but also his “pet” Pope Clement V (rumor has it he had the previous less compliant Pope poisoned).

Jacques de Molay the last Grand Master of the Order of The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon (the Knights Templar) supposedly demanded that the King and the Pope meet him “before the Throne of God” to answer for their crimes, and both died within the year.

Charlemagne is who I first thought of as well, for that figure on the middle right.
