“Monticello site for Tuesday’s job fair”

“Nearly 70 businesses will be offering 1,000 employment opportunities”Tuesday at the 10th Hoosier Job Fair.

SNIPPET: “The event, provided free to businesses and job seekers, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Twin Lakes High School gymnasium, 300 S. Third St. in Monticello.

“There will be all types of employers offering (jobs) in all different levels of skill sets,” said U.S. Rep. Steve Buyer, R-Monticello, who is hosting the job fair.

THE COMPANIES

Some firms that will be participating are in Buyer’s 4th District. Others are from throughout Indiana. They include Adkev Inc., Comcast, Edward Jones, Initials Inc., Primerica, Target, Verizon Wireless and Wright Way Medical Staffing LLC.

Businesses can still sign up to participate by going to www.stevebuyer.house.gov or by calling (317) 838-0404.”

I thought IT people didn’t have problems finding jobs. Is there a glut of Unix System Admins?

I don’t know if there is a glut of Unix Admins...I do know that in the past 2 years I have only been able to get contract positions, and have gone thru layoffs at Verizon,AT&T and Lufthansa...It does appear to be getting better, I’m getting more calls for full-time employment, but they are lowballing what they want to pay...
