Thats the only reason I can think of for her unleashing her inner socialist for all the world to see in this rant to reporters at Capitol Hill:
Its almost immoral what they are doing, Pelosi said to reporters, referring to insurance companies. Of course theyve been immoral all along in how they have treated the people that they insure, she said, adding, They are the villains. They have been part of the problem in a major way. They are doing everything in their power to stop a public option from happening.
Emphasis added. And if you think Im exaggerating with the inner socialist remark, consider this: one of her political heroes and mentors in San Francisco politics was the Stalinist head of the Longshoremans Union:
The point of rehearsing all of this ancient history is that one of those he influenced and who still goes out of her way to honor that influence is Nancy Pelosi. In 2001, she took to the pages of the Congressional Record to effuse her sentiments on the hundredth anniversary of Harry Bridgess birth, an occasion celebrated only by a gnostic few.
Here is what she said: Harry Bridges [was] arguably the most significant labor leader of the twentieth century, who was beloved by the workers of this Nation, and recognized as one of the most important labor leaders in the world. She added: The International Longshoremens and Warehousemens Union [was] the most progressive union of the time. In other words, this Communist-run union was more admirable than all of the anti-Communist unions.
Pelosi delivered this encomium a full nine years after Bridgess membership in the CP Central Committee had been revealed. Nor was this just a single moment. As recently as this February she visited ILWU headquarters to deliver this homage: It is very special to me, any occasion that I can come to the ILWU hall and acknowledge the leadership of this great union. . . .
Anyway, the Democrats internal polls on ObamaCare must be frightening, perhaps even worse than the public polls showing the electorate turning solidly against the idea. So what does the Speaker of the House do when she finds herself in a jam? Same thing she always does: find a scapegoat and demonize it. First it was the CIA, now the insurance companies admittedly a decent choice, since theyre not popular with most Americans. What, then, must she think of her leader in the White House, since Barack Obama was the biggest recipient of insurance-company donations in 2008? Is he sleeping with the enemy for taking money from the villainous insurance companies?
This tells me the Democrats are close to panic over over one of their long-desired programs: with solid, filibuster-proof majorities in both chambers, they cant even control their own members enough to pass the presidents signature issue. The moderate-conservative Blue Dogs wont accept the so-called public option, while the hard-Left progressives wont vote for a bill without it. They may get the bill out of committee, but there will be no final vote before Congress adjourns tomorrow. And dont forget the problems in the Senate.
Of course, during the recess they get to hear from those increasingly restive voters in the many, many swing districts across this great country.
If I were Speaker Pelosi, Id be panicking, too.
UPDATE: Well, what do you know? Nancy Pelosi herself has taken money from these evil, villainous insurance companies, to the tune of $120,000 in the last election cycle. Im sure shell be giving it back any moment now, since she wouldnt want to be tainted by dirty money.
Penis pinching Pelosi isn’t that deep. She’s panicking because she’s about to lose her speakership in a coup and lose her big plane.
The insurance companies may not be perfect, but they have paid more to the hospitals and doctors whom care for my wife, (who is in hospital now and will be for several more weeks) than the total money that I have earned in the same period.
Thank God for them, because my wife would be dead other wise. Nancy you are not human, not in my eyes
Bullsh*t...she’s just feeling (righteously, given the congressional ‘demographics’) emboldened. It’s her world now, and she knows it better than any of us. She’s not about to not take full advantage.
When I read the article about her being confronted by reporters as the “most despised” member of Congress, and she replied that she “didn’t care” she was despised - I could see a scared little Italian Princess who was afraid she couldn’t get a date in high school.
Even a whore will take robbery proceeds.
Just sayin.
Americans might not like Insurance companies, but we lik ethem better than we like the US Government run Healthcare.
You can fight an insurance company. the government just takes everything you have.
An insurance company can’t get access to your private accounts and tax returns. The Government demands it.
Yea We like Insurance companies a LOT more.
I for one will set up a special and separate back account if I am forced into it.
I will not allow the government access into my life.
Town halls gone wild

I think everyone should write to Nancy Pelosi and tell her just how we feel.
In a heated moment I just jammed my fingers on the keyboard and wrote her a note. I didn’t even proof read it (I really should have since I was mad), but I sent it anyway. I hit the back button to see if I could retrieve it and re-read it, and this is what I sent!
All of america is watching how the Congress has voted themselves excempt from this government run health care bill that you all seem to think would be in America’s best interest. I will not participate in this health care bill as many of us will not.
“I think Congress better rethink about placing a monopoly on our health care before voting on such a bill. I will not lose my choice for health care coverage and will not pay the government to provide one for me. I expect our representatives to represent the people and not your own self indulged interests. I do not want my hard earned money paying for health care for illegal aliens or welfare couch potatoes. I work very hard for the money I earn and I choose what coverage my family receives.
It doesn’t sound like you are listening to We the People so I will state as one of them my thoughts on this issue. I guess our jails will be full of hard working Americans that are going to refuse to pay for this government health care monopoly or the tax that you think you will be imposing for those of us that refuse.
I will move to a state that will declare sovereignty to remove government from passing these outrageous bills that more than half of our representatives don’t even read. Yeah, we have them on tape stating this fact. Such a lovely job! We will vote you all out.”
I’m sure she won’t care, but I feel better now!
I agree with you 1000%. She’s not in a “panic”. She’s in full aggressive tilt against all the enemies she’s always hated: individual liberty, economic independence, and American strength. She hates her country and she hates her countrymen and she sees blood and the floor and she’s going in for the kill.
She’s not panicking, she’s attacking.
I was going to ask if there was anyone in the government more crazy or nuts than Pelosi, but then I remembered Boxer, Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Cynthia McKinney and God knows who else.
Do you have to be nuts to be in the House or Senate?
WTF is wrong with these people?
Koo Koo land.
I felt the same way! I will close all of my accounts and my financials will completely disappear!
I’ve already started.....
Pelosi, is your worst nightmare.. a den mother on steroids with a open check book and a holier than thou attitude.
Rationing healthcare is the definition of immoral. Determining who gets what or doesn’t get what based on cost cutting rules and government paper pushers (think how compassionate the IRS and DMV are when you need help).
Oh yes Nancy, faceless, never wrong, never corrupt, unaccountable government will do SOOO much better. Why it’s as if we;ll have healthcare administered by the angels themselves.
Nancy Pelosi, the Head Chunk in a vat of vomit. Whoopee!
the insurance company does not have legal access to my private bank accounts.
