Jul 23 RadioShack Partners With Lance to Form New Cycling Team in 2010 RadioShack Corporation is proud to announce a partnership with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to form a new American Pro-Tour cycling team. Beginning in 2010, Lance Armstrong will compete for Team RadioShack as a cyclist, runner and triathlete in events around the world, including the 2010 Tour de France. This has been a great season so far the response in the countries weve been to has been amazing and its clear now that this was the right choice. Utilizing the massive media attention that the sport receives has been the perfect vehicle to help spread the LIVESTRONG message around the world, said Lance Armstrong. To be able to compete for an American team comprised of the worlds top cyclists, supported by the best coaches and staff I couldnt be happier to partner with RadioShack, a truly iconic American brand, said Lance Armstrong. The admission was sent via email, according to Cycling News.
Until it is proved the email actually came from Landis, this should be considered a way to indirectly tarnish Armstrong.
No one should ever trust any type of “confession” contained in an email.
Still, I keep coming back to the same, admittedly threadbare & utterly cynical rationale: even if it's true what everybody including Landis now says that everybody in pro cycling was/is doping, then the worst you can say is that an allegedly doping Lance won all those tours on a level-playing field, and he did it by riding that course smarter & better prepared than all his also-allegedly-doping competitors.
What was that ancient freeper saying invented for times just like this? Unnnnnggggghhhhh? Maybe I misspelled it, but you get the drift, so:
Uhhhnnnnngghghghghgh times eleventy!
What I find amusing about all the hyperventilating over “drugs in cycling” is that cycling has a long history of drug abuse. I think there was at least one cyclist who died during the Tour due to an amphetamine overdose.
I don’t believe the Landis confession. Email accounts are too easy to hack and spoof.
Until Landis is deposed under oath, the email remains in the same category as all of the other email hoaxes that have made the rounds.
Shame if Hincappie has been doping. He’s always been a big strong rider since his younger than junior days in the mid-80’s.
Yeah, George would by far be the biggest disappointment to me if Landis is telling the truth.
Have no fear, I’ll be starting the TdF 2010 thread soon. ;>)
I almost had a heart attack reading your name too fast, Flatty.
You too, lamerz!
Only saw a trailer on this earlier, will have to catch up later.
Only one American Team? Columbia?
Garmin didn't make the cut? Nor any of the others?
Team Radio Shack is in.

Lance says the transcript of his comments will be up on the Radio Shack team site soon.
“......From 2011 on, in compliance with the agreement passed between the organisers of the main Tours and the International Cycling Union (UCI), the first 17 teams of the world ranking established at the end of 2010, according to the sporting results of the teams, will be automatically selected. The other teams will receive wild cards from the organisers.............
OK, got it now. Thanks.
I didn’t read the fine print.
And I missed BMC Racing as well, so there are 4 American teams in the 2010 Tour, France being the only other country with 4.
“Radio Shack - you have questions, we have dumb looks.”
Perfect!
Remember the “old” days? Old ham pros, young EE geeks, HeathKit commandos... One could go to a radio shack and build a breadboard device from scratch.
Not so now!
Von’s Pavillions were supermarket chains.
