Jul 23 RadioShack Partners With Lance to Form New Cycling Team in 2010 RadioShack Corporation is proud to announce a partnership with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to form a new American Pro-Tour cycling team. Beginning in 2010, Lance Armstrong will compete for Team RadioShack as a cyclist, runner and triathlete in events around the world, including the 2010 Tour de France. This has been a great season so far the response in the countries weve been to has been amazing and its clear now that this was the right choice. Utilizing the massive media attention that the sport receives has been the perfect vehicle to help spread the LIVESTRONG message around the world, said Lance Armstrong. To be able to compete for an American team comprised of the worlds top cyclists, supported by the best coaches and staff I couldnt be happier to partner with RadioShack, a truly iconic American brand, said Lance Armstrong. This is going to be a very well-managed, -organized, and -funded Pro-Tour Cycling Team, and it should be very exciting to watch as it develops.
but they do have nice cable!
I like how most people’s response to Team Radio Shack seems to be “Radio Shack is still in business?”
I’m ready to see how this shapes up.

Just like Radio Shack? May G-d help the publicists who have to do this for a living.
Radio Shack - you have questions, we have dumb looks.
I'm using our larger TdF ping list to let all of y'all know what we're doing, but I do understand that some of y'all may not wish to be pinged to developments of TRS.
Please let me know via FreepMail if you wish to be taken off the Team Radio Shack Ping List. This is expected to be a low volume list, btw.
I don’t think you will see Alberto Contador on the team - he was looking pretty chummy with the Columbia Slipstream boys on the way to the Champs...
I WANT A T-SHIRT !!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Alberto is rumored to be under contract to Astana through 2010, as well as talking to folks about another Spanish team to be formed.
Contador doesn’t want to be on Astana with Alexander Vinokourov coming back from his 2-year doping suspension.
I would bet Horner is coming along. Who really wants to stick around Astana these days?
It is kind of funny that the response to US Postal was similar... Most often asked question was “Why is the Post Office spending money on a cycling team?”
RS is an odd company, and I have never quite figured out what they are supposed to do. However, this is a brilliant marketing move!
But it will be Bruyneel (surely) & Armstrong managing the team; Johan knows what he's doing.
And there will be / are plenty of other sponsors besides RS. Trek, and... (bay, can you take over here? :)
Remember when they were Tandy?
Nike is a sponsor also - they’ll be providing clothing/shoes etc.
That’s hilarious. Sometimes the Onion does it right.
Yes....I do remember. They are much like the old Western-Auto stores who has gone by the wayside because they refused to change. RS should use this opportunity to remake that company and go head-to-head with Best Buy. Since Circuit-City is gone I see an opportunity.
I hope Armstrong kicks Contador’s arse.
Didn’t like that guy at all.
