Last night during his national press conference, President Barack Obama maligned doctors as doing unnecessary operations based on greed, not the best interest of the patient. He said:
Right now, doctors a lot of times are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule thats out there. The doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kids tonsils out, Obama told a prime-time news conference.
The president added: Now, that may be the right thing to do, but Id rather have that doctor making those decisions just based on whether you really need your kids tonsils out or whether it might make more sense just to change maybe they have allergies. Maybe they have something else that would make a difference.
Its interesting that President Obama discusses unnecessary operations as one of the causes of high health care costs. Do you know what the most often performed operation is in the United States? With heart disease being the number one killer in America, you might think it would be related to that, perhaps bypass surgery or angioplasty.

But then if he really cared about the economy he would insist on eliminating Capital Gains Taxes for two years or forever.
Exactly correct. Best way to actually get reform is a two step process: 1) MAKE the COngress be the pilot program and 2) MANDATE tort reform
Do ya think Edwards will be able to sue the government health control bureau when the kill sombodys granny by denying care? Maybe the demwits are figgerin it out. They will have to have tort reform and the ambulance chasers won’t like it.
Government is not going to solve the problem...
Government IS the problem!
A true case...
A U.S. Army Doctor checked his proficiency status to see if he would be in line for a promotion - Short 3 spinal taps - Well, guess what - next three patients got spinal taps!
Yep, more Government and more regulations will make it all better... /s
