Weekly Roundup - Living On Nothing Edition Category: Roundups | Comments(15)
Did you hear about the guy that lives on nothing? No seriously, he lives on zero dollars a day. Meet Daniel Suelo, who lives in a cave outside Moab, Utah. Suelo has no mortgage, no car payment, no debt of any kind. He also has no home, no car, no television, and absolutely no creature comforts. But he does have a lot of creatures, as in the mice and bugs that scurry about the cave floor hes called home for the last three years.
To us, Suelo probably sounds a little extreme. Actually, he probably sounds very extreme. After all, I suspect most of you reading this are doing so under the protection of some sort of man-made shelter, and with some amount of money on your person, and probably a few needs for money, too. And who doesnt need money unless they have completely unplugged from the grid? Still, its an amusing story about a guy who rejects all forms of consumerism as we know it.

Somehow, Kingston, Tenn., remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the freedom of religion, not the freedom from religion.<<<<
One of the planks in the communist manifesto, is to get rid of God.
We are to only love and respect socialism.
They keep chipping away at the important things and if you have ever heard them rant about God on the liberal radio talk shows, you will then understand how well the manifesto has done its job in our schools.
At 1 am tonight, there will be a program on kgo.com, it is 810 on the AM radio dial, there will be a program on with John Rothman as the host, John is fair for a liberal and he lets the liberal rant, so we all understand what it is all about.
I haven’t been listening to them since the election, didn’t feel like I could handle it.
LOL....Listen if you want to hear the finest liberals from San Francisco.
Imagine 140 pound goat standing over 6 tall on her hind legs - impressive to say the least and then the hammer blow overcame just about any resistance... LOL<<<
I don’t need to imagine it, for I have had the experience.
I wanted the doe, but could only have her, if I took her brother the buck.
Hauled them home some 45 miles in the back of a 55 Chevie station wagon, just Mary and I, she managed to keep them from helping me drive....
Put them in the pens, went out about 10 pm to take scraps to the chickens and check on them.
Thought nothing of going in the pen, until the buck started his attack.
I managed to catch his collar and stood there, holding him on his hind feet, for many minutes, until Bill missed me and came to see why I was missing.
Talk about scared and tired, he was a Big one, maybe 200 pounds and as soon as we could, we gave him to a rancher, who ran goats with his sheep in the summer heat, to stop them from breeding to deliver in the extreme heat of Yuma.
A good way to ruin a buck or ram in the Yuma heat, is to allow them to breed....
If you ever have a doe who will not breed, take her for a ride in your station wagon....it works, even with unbred 5 year old goats.
I found that people who are evil are afraid of animals, they know that their sense of smell is good.
Many times, suspicious creatures who arrived at our place, took one look at my 2 big Samoyed dogs and when asked what they wanted, as they refused to get out of the vehicle, would come up with some odd request.....Little did they know that I met all vehicles, armed under my big apron.
We were the last place, then 40 miles across the bombing range to Mexico.
The honest Mexicans looking for work that had walked the 40 miles were not afraid of the dogs...by the time they got to my place, water and food was of more interest, then fear.

Excellent article/thread.
Yes, we are really getting hit hard here, for all of our food is shipped in, nothing is grown here or closer than about a 100 miles.
Glad to see you’re doing well and just taking a vacation. We missed you.
In the past week, I've come across quite a few postings on the Net, as well as at FR, with firsthand accounts of grocery store prices SUDDENLY going substantially higher, on MANY items - even blam whose been keeping records on his hoard, 00Ps, I mean his supply of emergency storage food claims that even at WALMART all manner of food items have recently skyrocketed in price.
I can't imagaine how many spots in rural America are dealing with this, because as you say, the trucking of the food substantially raises prices, and unlike major metropolitan areas, there can't be as much competition to have the lowest price.
Although I admittedly never buy them, I was shocked to see those tiny little cans of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup for $1.16 -- can you imagine??! A dollar and sixteen cents for THAT!!?
LOL, at least Walgreens occasionally still has them priced at two for a dollar.

Crop prices jumped nearly 8 percent in October as rainy weather delayed harvests across the Midwest.

Thanks for the warning, for that is what I use to start eating again, after a couple days of 7up and crackers.
We are in trouble, my medicine bill has gone up a $100. per month, in the past 2 months, now food.
Which does one give up, food or the meds needed to keep eating the foods.
I buy very little, and can’t imagine what a family with a house full of kids, is suffering.
Maybe it is not a surprise that kids clothing and toys are snapped up on Free Cycle.
Thank you, Granny!
I’ll start reading through these tonight.
Hugzzzzzzzz...
You simply pour maybe half a cup of flakes into a bowl, and then pour boiling water over it, stirring FAST with a fork, so it doesn't lump up. Trying to make more than 1/2 cup at any one time is difficult, as then it wants to lump.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but it's really a cure all.
Insofar as chicken noodle soup, don't forget that with both Thanksgiving & Christmas coming up, that SOON Swanson's Chicken Broth will be MUCH lower in price than at any other time of the year. You know, like 6 cans for $2 inexpensive, instead of 98-cents per can.
It’s hard to believe that such a gorgeous creature is a goat, and not a pedigree fancy-dancy purebred dog.
Isn’t that stuff just amazing?? Much of it leaves me absolutely speechless.
Granny knows that my folks escaped all of that and came to the US.
Now where to escape to?
Don't miss the mystery "Secret Ingredient" part, roflol!
Chicken (or other) soup is good for the soul
This "whole scenario" in our country is starting to resemble a frightening deadly nightmare, or at least that thar's my premonitions...
Cordis CROSSOVER Sheath Introducer - Recall
Audience: Interventional radiological healthcare professionals, hospital risk managers
Cordis and FDA notified healthcare professionals of a nationwide recall of all lots of the CROSSOVER Sheath Introducer, a long-coil reinforced,kink-resistant catheter sheath intended for use in arterial and venous procedures requiring the percutaneous introduction of therapeutic or diagnostic intravascular devices or fluids.
The recall was due to stretching or fracture of the sheath during use. In the event of a device fracture, separated segments of the device can embolize downstream in the bloodstream and impede blood flow distal to the point where it lodges, resulting in ischemia or infarct to the distal extremity. Since this device is coil reinforced, any separation of the cannula has the potential to expose portions of the coil creating the potential for vessel dissection or perforation. Unplanned open surgery may be required to remove the retained segments or control bleeding.

Hugs to you my lady.
Those posts are so close to what is happening here, that I finally quit reading last night, couldn’t take any more.
It is the timeless communist plan, takeover and brainwash, keep repeating it long enough and they will accept it.
Dig into the site, I haven’t even begun to read it all.
A small airplane crashed in Las Vegas about 5 pm, they are still looking for the pilot, not sure if a passerby took him to a hospital, or if he is the passenger that cops sent to trauma.
They are still looking/asking questions.
It hit one car, no injuries to folks in car, near one of the casinos.
One of the first calls said there was debris all over the freeway, why if it did not hit the roadway, an explosion?
Fox only said that it crashed.

Gerber Baby Rice Cereal. <<<
With a little scraped cuttlebone and a few other ingredients, you would have the orphaned baby bird food.
I would have a problem getting the straight chicken broth, as it is not something that Scott will know.
And I pass out so much, that I rarely turn on the stove, so have to keep it simple.
When i still cooked and for years, I also saved as many of the little tidbits as I could for my mystery container.
Good soup to me, should have all the known vegetables in it and lots of spices and a hot pepper or two to wake it up.
Her recipe is a good one.
