...more and more research shows that this empty sweetness makes the body expect food. When it doesn't arrive, you actually get hungrier. He explains in simple terms that the more sugar-free soft drinks you drink, the fatter you become.
Luckily, the body doesn't digest food using a scalding hot frying pan. :')

The busybodies at the Center for Science in the Public Interest approve of Splenda for basically unlimited use, and no other artificial sweetener.

Oh, please.

I probably consume more bad chemicals through my skin and respiratory system from a day of plinking than I will from a lifetime of diet soda.

I probably get more exposure to nuclear radiation from a day at the beach than I would from a lifetime living nextdoor to a nuclear power plant.

After being obese for years and fighting to lose that weight, I’ll keep my splenda, barring any real (non-internet hyperbole) health scare that’s backed up by a serious peer-reviewed study. Being obese sucked. Sometimes I want my tea to be sweet. That means splenda.

The first part about the body expecting sugar, and therefore causing people to get fatter makes sense. The other “science” parts sound like the start of “educating” the public in preparation for lawsuits.

Don’t even say anything about Splenda, or...else! LOL

Last night, for the first time, I picked up a quart of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream made with Splenda. One half the fat, and 1/3 of the calories. Or something like that. (It was on sale. I’m cheap.)

It was AWESOME. Understand that I will be FReeping the rest of the week with a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone until it’s gone.

Never could I take Sweet-n-Low, Nutri-Sweet, or any of that crap. But Splenda.....

Ding
Ding
Ding

We have a winner!!!!

I have been drinking inhuman quantities of diet soda for close to 20 years. I am living proof that this is BS.

I gave up diet soda when I got pregnant. I felt wonderful! After I had my son, I stayed away from it because it was still not recommended for nursing. All it took was one sip and I was addicted to it. Diet soda is the devil! I crave it, but feel so much better when I avoid it. After that little experiment, my husband and I have banned all fake sugar from our home. Especially Splenda. Splenda gives us both the poops. Anything that makes me feel like I’ve spent a week in Mexico can’t be good for me.

They can trigger seizures in people with a seizure disorder.

I figure if they can do that, then they are not good for you. Now, no one in my family will have the artificial sweetners.

Regular sugar doesn’t mess with your brain. You just have to limit consumption. My kids just drink more water instead of soda.

Many who suffer from autoimmune illnesses have changed their diets and found that they feel much better without any preservatives, additives or chemicals in their diet. Those additives may not react with *your* body chemistry and/or may not affect *your* autoimmune disease, but in many they do. Unfortunately, autoimmune illness doesn’t get the time and attention it deserves because, IMO, it’s mostly females who are afflicted.

Those who travel abroad in some countries have found that they eat a lot more but actually lose weight. The difference? The food is natural and freshly prepared.

I am just waiting for someone to come up with a reason for my being fat that fits. It couldn’t possibly be the reason my daughter gives - that I have no willpower. In the new America, isn’t it my right to be a victim? Can I sue? I’m 20 pounds overweight, I want my disability check!-—JM

We now know data from Harvard Medical School in children who consume diet sodas gain weight

I want to see the control group of children that remained stable at 38 pounds because they didn't drink diet sodas.

Hubby is a diabetic, so we switched from sugar to Splenda. I found that the Splenda caused me to have way to much intestinal discomfort. So I switched to the natural sweetner Ribana aka Stevia. One packet is equal to two tsp. of sugar and I love it! Hubby does too. Haven’t tried cooking with it, only as a sweetner in coffee and cereal.

OMG, what a boatload of crapola!!! We went through this BS with saccharine, (Sweet and Low), aspartane (Equal) and pretty much every other artificial sweetener that is made.

When study “results” like this are released, you ALWAYS have to look at who commissioned the “study”. Usually the “results” support the position of the group or comapny that paid for them.

Every single study with these “results” have been proven to be flawed or manipulated to obtain the desired results. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

I heard all this about aspartame 25 years ago from the daughter of one of the scientists that developed it. Haven't touched the stuff since. It's incredibly bad. I won't do any artificial sweeteners as things cooked up in lab...yeah, I just know too many scientists.

About a year and a half ago I got into using strictly all natural foods and it does make a difference. It's not hard to cut out the crap and stick to fruits, veggies, decent bread (it does freeze nicely), real milk cheese, bone-in chicken, etc. You really do feel much better.

Stevia is by for the safest in the world. All natural and you can now buy it without the after taste. The Japanese will not allow any aspartame in their country at all. All their diet drinks use stevia. We can not order from Japan their diet drinks...FDA will not allow it.

aspertame, monosodium glutamate(MSG) these are actually chemicals (neurotransmitters). L-glutamate (a neurotransmitter) glutamate->monosodium glutamate. These chemicals mimic or actually are neurotransmitters. Too many of them are very bad for your brain. It doesn’t take very much to be too much. If you are interested in this, read ‘Exitotoxins: the taste that kills’ by Russell L. Blaylock M.D. (he is a neurosurgeon). Dr. Blaylock explains that MSG is hidden in lots of ingredients of the foods in the stores.... such as hydrolyzed vegetable protein, sodium caseinate, yeast extract, textured protein, autolyzed yeast, and more. the list is long. The important thing to remember is that somebody knows what these chemicals do to us and they put it in our food. And Soy products contain pseudo estrogen, treated just like estrogen in your body. this pseudo estrogen cause breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. Just wait until Codex Alimentarius to kick in. Under Codex Alimentarius, 93% of the worlds population will die (from malnutrition and disease associated with malnutrition) that includes you and me.
