Need Wrinkle Advice from FReeper Sisters
me | July, 11, 2009 | me

Posted on 07/11/2009 5:58:01 PM PDT by Marie

OK FReeperettes, I need some help.

It’s finally happened, just as I knew it would… my face is starting to show my age. Quickly.

I knew it would happen just like this. Every woman ages the same in my mother’s family and apparently, I’m no exception. They get seriously carded, their husbands get flack for being with a teenager, nobody believes their teenagers belong to the - until about 40.

Then BOOM! Their faces crater. They go from easily passing for 21 to looking 45 within a few months and it all happens around 40. Doesn’t matter if they smoke or moisturize or how much sun they get. The timing is never off.

I’m almost 40 and for the last month I’ve noticed the dark circles under my eyes getting darker, my skin starting to slack, and my pores starting to enlarge. I don’t have many fine lines; however, if genetics hold true, the wrinkle brigade will be in full force by next summer.

But I will NOT go gracefully into that good night! It’s too early for a facelift (plus I’m a big chicken), so I’m looking for a good face cream. I already moisturize, so I’ve got that going for me, but I need something to fight the dark circles under my eyes and something that firms and tones the skin and reduces pores.

There are literally thousands of products out there. I’d like to find out what’s worked for you. Point me in the right direction my conservative sisters! Tell me where to put my money!

(One thing. I can’t use Retin A. I have some permanent burn scars from using that crap for only two weeks a decade ago.)

Somehow I knew the topic of urine therapy was going to come up. (*sigh*)

Vanessa Williams uses it, but I’d still like to pay abut $30-40 for some nice cream in a jar. (Weird American sensibilities.)

See a cosmetic surgeon. There are alternatives (laser treatment, face peels, etc.) but there is NO magic cream...

Go to a good dermatologist with these questions and start getting monthly facials. Moisturizers are fine but they don’t prevent or slow anything - they just make your skin temporarily a little better and softer. I use Bioelements’ Absolute Moisture.

I’m not looking for magic, I’d just like to slow down the Army of Time from it’s continued march across my face.

Make up heavily like the stars?

Welcome to middle age. Just go with the flow.
It will be less painful. :)

Series. I only know the sun will do the most damage.

Skin cream with sun protection works for me.
Still have wrinkles but they sure are soft.

You may want to schedule some time with a Dermatologist or a cosmetic surgeon. I'm not being sarcastic. If it is important to you, don't take the advice of those that don't know you. There is no magical cure ... .

Does Bioelements’ Absolute Moisture leave an oily feel
or does it soak in completely?

I’ll start with the dermatologist. Surgery scares me... a lot.

Gosh! I look just like that except that I’m 5’2”, have blonde hair and green eyes, a narrower face, a more prominent nose, a thinner upper lip and lots or wrinkles.

Soaks in - no odor, grease, perfume, nothing. I even use it a lot around my eyes and it never burns my eyes or makes them water. I really like it. They also make a good exfoliant called Pumice Peel.
