They are the stars of a horrifically bad movie called ‘Twilight’ based on the just as awful book series of the same name, featuring good vampires that SPARKLE when they go out in the sunlight... yeah... it’s unbelievable.
For some inexplicable reason (perhaps because there are no words bigger than ‘glowering’ and ‘smoldering’ in the entire 400+ pages of each book) this is immensely popular among teenage girls. Apparently, people were afraid this relationship would ‘ruin’ the second movie in the series, but really, you could translate the plot into Japanese and back again using Babelfish and then stage the thing using sock puppets and it wouldn’t be any worse.
My youngest daughter is 17 years old and she has only a slight awareness of who these people are.
Of course, she is a Junior at a major southern college, majoring in Political Science, with Law School in mind...so, perhaps that has something to do with it.
She is either over-educated or under-aware.
I prefer the under-aware scenario, coupled with the fact that she is just too busy studying and learning to be aware of such vapid subjects, such as the movie you describe, or the actors/actresses that were part of it.
