It was assumed he was called "King James" because he reigns on the basketball court. But maybe LeBron James earned that nickname due to his tyrannical ways (in dealing with embarrassment).
On Monday, Jordan Crawford, a sophomore at Xavier (by way of Indiana), reportedly dunked on LeBron during a pick-up game at the LeBron James Skills Academy. Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com wrote that one high school player said, "it was bad". (We can only assume he meant "bad" in the Michael Jackson sort of way.)
LeBron must have agreed, because he had Nike officials confiscate the two videos that were taken of the dunk. (Parrish blames Nike, but reading between the lines it seems like the censorship was orchestrated by LeBron himself.)

Can’t take being upstaged by a high school kid...job security?
So?
Very shoddy reporting IMO. I doubt there is much fact in here. Pros get dunked on all the time by college kids at these camps.
Any and every player can and will get donked over in basketball, because it’s such a wussy, “don’t-touch-him-or we’ll-call-a-foul!” sport. I’d watch a South Florida vs. Rutgers football game before I’ll watch the last 20 seconds of a tied seventh game of the NBA Finals.
In your face, James!
Big deal. A dunk is two points, just like a layup. Of all the over hyped, ridiculous things in sports, nothing beats people getting all jazzed because a seven foot man with three foot arms, jumped a few inches to push a ball through a hoop to give his team two almost meaningless points.
I have a video camera that records to an internal hard drive. Would Nike (or LeBron) try to force me to delete the file or give up my camera? Screw that! Any fool that’s weak enough to give up video footage they filmed in a situation like this is ... well ... a fool.
Tell Nike no.
Tell LeBron no.
Go home and put it on the web with an explanation of what happened.
One of the many reasons I almost never watch basketball.
One of the many reasons I almost never watch basketball.
Is that like the Zoolander School For Kids Who Can't Read Good (and want to learn to do other things good too)?
If you tuned in to the South Florida vs. Rutgers football game when there was 20 seconds left in the seventh game of the NBA finals, you would be able to watch the whole football game and when you returned to the NBA finals, there would still be a few seconds left.
How ‘bout those Muskies!!! Maybe it will somehow resurface to show during pregame intros during this upcoming season.
True, which is why this dunk must have been really nasty.
Exactly. There was even a report many years ago that a 16-year old kid dunked on Michael Jordan right after his 2nd championship in his “seminar”. What happened to that kid? Probably ACORN’S chief financier, who knows?
Xavier, the real university in Cincinnati!!
That goes back to the Skip Prosser days......
It doesn't matter how "nasty" this dunk was, it was still only worth two points. Or have they started awarding extra style points to players depending on how "nasty" their dunk is?
God bless Skip.
