United Airlines Song Background (short version)
In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway. United: Song 3 is coming. I promise.

Perhaps that was his inspiration.
Exactly.
Can’t help but notice that that case looks like it belongs in the MJ funeral ...jes sayin’.
It hurt to see him do that. I figure he's young and will probably grow up one of these days. I kept thinking, couldn't he have just signed it and put it on ebay so some charity could get a little extra cash?
Yes, but.................a week doesn’t go by that I don’t find myself agreeing with the ACLU ...although it irks me. ;)
“If we want to professionalize, we must Federalize!”
These are the kind of things that should be cataloged and called upon when conditions dictate. (And that seems to be every other day nowadays!)
CA....
HAHAHA! Brilliant!
United bag handlers stole an expensive piece of equipment out of one of my bags a few years ago. They blamed TSA, TSA blamed United.
It went round and round til I saw that the local TV News was doing a story on baggage thefts at O’Hare. So, I called the CEO’s office and left a message that said, “My name is X. I have a complaint on file with you for X. The complaint number is X. I just got off the phone with NBC. They think they have video of my equipment being stolen and they want to show it to me and record my reaction. If I don’t hear from you in an hour, I’m calling them back and I intend to embarrass you.”
Within 15 minutes of leaving that message I got a call from the CEOs’ assistant offering me full compensation.
It’s worth noting that when I complained to TSA (whose version of their innocence was very believable— they video tape everything) I said, ‘How is it they can get away with this? Don’t you search them?” “Yes,” he said, “but only on the way in to work. On the way out, it’s a law enforcement issue.”
Stone cold bastards, the lot of them.
My wife and I flew United Express for a three week marathon vacation/business trip. They treated us well. That might be partially because I travelled on orders.
One of our stops was Detroit; they were great. We found the worst customer service in Chicago.
Glad you had the stones to convince them. You were very lucky. Great story!
Bet it sounds even worse than it looks.
There were 42 other drivers that would have loved to have that guitar on their trophy rack and this asshat smashes it up. I was furious. I’d like to see him try that at Martinsville. The fans would kill him.
I would like to bump this thread.
:D
OUCH... and bump!
