Beer bellies caused by genetics - Not by the beer

Beer lovers across Britain will be raising a glass to the latest research on drinking.

For scientists have discovered that the so-called 'beer belly' is not caused by consuming alcohol – but more to do with genetics.

A study of thousands of beer drinkers found that although people who drink regularly are more likely to put on weight, they do not necessarily accumulate fat around the abdomen.

Researchers monitored more than 20,000 people – 7,876 men and 12,749 women – over an average of eight-and-a-half years.

Bullhockey.

When I drank beer, I had one.

When I stopped, it went away.

“Beer belly” is not PC. It’s a “liquid grain storage facility”.

This is silly. Of course you get fatter when you drink a lot of beer...and of course it’s in the abdomen - men get fat in the abdomen, women in the butt/hips...and legs...and ankles...and arms...and...

Right, and "down" is not caused by gravity.

Believe what you want, but I'll leave the six packs alone, and keep working on the six pack.

What YOU said!

I agree. If you take more in than you burn you get fat.

I used to have a six-pack until I decided to upgrade it to a keg.

Here's the formula: (calories consumed - calories burned) / 3500 = weight gain (loss if negative)

Eat less and exercise more is the diet plan. Everything else is just there to sell books or try to keep it interesting.

Why settle for a six pack, when you could have a party ball.

Look at the paintings from the middle ages, most men had the protruding midsection. As W. C. Fields said, “I don’t drink water because of what fish do in it!”

When I was a heavy drinker, I was real slim - but I think that was because I was substituting beer for food.
