Get Over it, Sarah is gone as a National Candidate
vanity | 7-5-09 | Bob J

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:24:13 AM PDT by Bob J

Sarah is now unelectable on a national stage. The “quitter” specter will hang around her neck like “swimmer” does to Ted Kennedy.

You’ll be able to spot the realistic, clear thinking conservatives because they see and admit this early so we can put it behind us get on with identifying the candidates who can win in ‘12.

BTW - This doesn’t rule out a tangential private career ala Newt or a run for a House or Senate seat (although I don’t know where at this point) but as a national candidate she is toast.

That so many conservatives can’t see this is one of the reasons we lose so often...in campaigns and ideology.

It’s quite sad but something I’ve learned to live with. At one point I thought the conservative cause in this country could be galvanized around solid principles, sober and realistic goals and turned into an effective winning strategy and movement. But I’ve come to realize too many voluntarily ignore the ugly realities of politics and put their faith in Hail Mary passes, and frankly, are just too lazy for the time and effort needed to bring this country back to where they profess they want it to be.

“The artillery is not being removed from the field, it is being moved to higher ground which affords greater flexibility and destructive firepower onto the enemy lines.”

Thank you. So true!!!

Foolish prognostication. You can’t be governor and raise anywhere close to the $900m Obama raised to win 2008. Sarah made the shrewd move that allows her to campaign for conservative candidates and re-ignite the Reagan revolution.

100% agree with you, Bob. And you are correct about ignorant conservatives putting their faith in an impossible scenario. A cursory read of the responses to your post shows some people here have no idea how much the "Swimmer" has hurt Ted. That and his disastrous 1980 interview virtually killed his Presidential aspirations, leaving him with his Senate post.

The fact that conservatives don't even know recent history of how such disparaging associations can kill any possibility of Presidential contention makes you worried about the state of pollyannaish, uninformed conservatory, that is frequently on display here.

It won’t matter. I will do exactly what I damn well please.

No more votes ‘just because’, no more votes to satisfy someone else. I will either believe in the candidate or stay home. It certainly didn’t help to vote for McCain when I knew I despised him. I voted for Sarah Palin, John McCain was in the way, IMO!

Stinking, steaming pile of horse manure straight from the Sunday Morning talking heads programs. And many who should know better are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Before coming to the conclusion that she is cutting and running, try listening to the take on all of this from the Great One mark Levin. He has made some great observations, that make me excited about this new turn of events.

• The Mark Levin show from July 3rd is Worth listening to.

Palin has to remove the millstone of being Governor and do it now if she is going to be a serious contender in 2012. The frivolous ethics lawsuits against her coming from Obama operatives is costing her a fortune, even though she has won 15 out of 15 cases. She can’t hold up a salmon without being sued for breaking some ethics rule, or wear a jacket with a logo on it, two of the charges against her. She can’t leave the State, without being hit with more charges. How is she going to compete with the old Republican horses if she is tied down in Alaska. She can’t.” And the those RINO Republican horses still jealous of her knocking them off the radar screen are not doing her any favors, hitting the talking heads shows, as she is stuck in Alaska fending off Obama.

I liked her and do like her a lot. I supported the campaign by volunteering. But she was not prepared for the national stage. I’m sure you’ve take a lot of heat for your comment alredy, but I tend to agree with you.

I would just like to point out to you and Bob that the beliefs you share on Mrs Palin are correct...but no longer apply in the present.

Consider that it was an axiom that the Democrats could never expect to nominate a hard left candidate and in no way would such a candidate have any chance to be elected President. That belief is of course no longer valid.

In the past, you could consider her actions as enough of a negative to slam the door shut on her possibly every becoming the President. That belief I think is also no longer valid.

The reason I feel this way is the bulk of our electorate no longer vote with the same patterns that were reliable in the past. Again I point to our current popular vote TOTUS.

I have the feeling that if Mrs. Palin decided that she was going to be serious about 2012, the path that would be most effective would be the one she has chosen in regards to the relentless attacks and the effects of multiple scenarios.

I could be wrong with my speculation, but I do not believe that her opportunity to win the Republican nomination is any worse now than it was a week ago.

Your correct Skip, she won't live off the state tit like certain former senators from NY and IL as they ran for office for personal gain while they ignored their state and the idiot voters that put em in there.

Palin has taken all the ammo from the socialist lefts presstitutes and polidiots and can now do them damage of the likes they will not get over for decades if ever.

I listened to her speech, not the presstitutes opinions and lies. And lord knows Rollins is such a expert GOP advisor as his efforts got McPain Obama elected.....

Conservatives have seen this kind of crap before. Deranged wishful thinking presented as fact. Ho-hum. Those who think Sarah Palin is going to fade away need to get over it.

Kennedy may be called the swimmer, but it sure didn't hurt him he has been in the Senate controlling for what 40 years???

Sarah Palin will be the future of the USA. I've been an active Republican for all my voting life, and I'm 66 now and I will work and donate all I possibly can to see her move forward in her goals to lead this country out of shame that we have had since the Democrats took over Congress in Jan 2007.

You Go Girl...Sarah Palin 2012

>>On election day, 60% of the country didn’t think she was prepared to be VP.

On election day, 52% of the country thought that an inexperienced, first-term Senator who had never held a real job in his life was prepared to the POTUS.

Constant press coverage of the Left’s talking points created the images that drove both statistics.

Yes she did Paulycy...In the last paragraph of her Independence Day message she spells out her goals very clearly.
They are listed in one I posted yesterday. (BTW You don’t happen to have a link to the advice C Krathammer gave her do you....can’t find it...can’t even spell it....He suggested she ditch Alaska IIRC)

Oh and BoB, Rintense is already collecting names of people to be on the DailyPalinDose. Woo Hoo!

She already accomplished her goals as GOV

Resigning enabler her to:
FInish the book and get it to the printers sooner (according to FOX seven figure advance)
Go on the Book tour
GO on the talk shows.

Do the hundreds of speaking for pay engagments she’s had to turn down (She makes less than 100,000 as gov.)

Campaign for other running for congress...Get the GOP elected.

Basically she’s following the step Charle Krauthammer listed for her.

1. She’s gotten rid of the governorship, it had become a stone around her neck holding her back.

2. Decide of a few topic to emphasis....That was done in the last paragraph of her Independence Day greeting today.

less government intervention,
greater energy independence,
stronger national security, and
much-needed fiscal restraint

3. Get down to the lower 48.
First event scheduled in CA Aug 8th.

Let’s get over it. The US media, Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, and liberals just can’t stop talking about Sarah.

Of course you are right.
Sarah’s future is not going to be in elected politics.

Rush Limbaugh spoke about her future in terms of “to do a TV show, to do speeches, to raise money, to earn money...”
I think those sorts of things are what she’s looking at.
She decided being in elected office was not worth the state-run media abuse she got, with David Letterman’s ‘jokes’ being the final straw. She certainly isn’t going to want to put her family through what would be 10 times worse if she ran for president. She said she could achieve more out of office than in, and I think she’s right. I think she’s taking a cue from Al Gore to pursue her agenda outside of political office, and make a lot of money doing it. So you can be sure she’s hanging her hat up for good when it comes to running for election.

But for now, you really can’t discuss it with them, too many raw nerves. Her supporters are scared and angry right now, but in time they will move on, just as she is. In 3 years time if you brought it up again, they will say “Sarah who?”
