Statement from Gov. Palin's Legal Counsel on Defamatory Allegations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 4, 2009

On July 3rd, 2009, Governor Sarah Palin announced her intent to resign her gubernatorial duties and transfer the powers of Governor to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell.

Almost immediately afterwards, several unscrupulous people have asserted false and defamatory allegations that the “real” reasons for Governor Palin’s resignation stem from an alleged criminal investigation pertaining to the construction of the Wasilla Sports Complex. This canard was first floated by Democrat operatives in September 2008 during the national campaign and followed up by sympathetic Democratic writers.1. It was easily rebutted then as one of many fabrications about Sarah Palin. Just as power abhors a vacuum, modern journalism apparently abhors any type of due diligence and fact checking before scurrilous allegations are repeated as fact.

From the article:

This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.

I've been wondering if this sort of thing, might have been part of the motive. A private citizen has much more ability to use the courts to fight this sort of thing.

Here's how to respond to those who cut Sarah down.

"You know, sir/madam your setiments about Palin are
EXACTLY how I and so many of my friends feel about
Obama, the most unqualified person to ever serve as our
President."

The Alaska Constitution protects the right of free speech, while simultaneously holding those “responsible for the abuse of that right.” Alaska Constitution Art. I, Sec. 5. http://ltgov.state.ak.us/constitution.php?section=1. These falsehoods abuse the right to free speech; continuing to publish these falsehoods of criminal activity is reckless, done without any regard for the truth, and is actionable.”

Love this part.

You're thinking of the wrong Ms. Moore (Michael). This is who is being cautioned:

To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as “fact” that Governor Palin resigned because she is “under federal investigation” for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.

Maybe Ms Moore should be afraid to turn off her lights at night, if you know what I mean.

Eventually people are going to get tired of it. and somebody is going to go after these people.

Moore and the others take their marching orders from Axelrod and Soros. Go after Moore and the other pipsqueeks, and make them spill their guts as to who is paying them, who is providing the “information” and all the other details of their involvement.

Sarah is smart, beautiful, and successful, and guess what, she didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in her mouth, she EARNED everything she got in life.

Yep, they hate the fact that she represents everything the libs say they're FOR, and she's a conservative, NOT one of them.

since Sarah will be a private citizen, does this mean the limits of her defense fund can be raised?????

Wowzers, Sarah’s facebook message made my fourth.

Van Flein’s ball-peen hammer memo has made my week.

The D.C. Republicans don’t like her to do this because they are not used to someone who fights back.

Gentlemen, I believe conservatisms wilderness years are coming to an end. We have found our leader.

Best,

Chris

That was just so beautiful to read, I just had to give it the color it deserves! Looks like Sarah has got the right guy to take the idiots to the woodshed! :)

Another plus when she leaves the Gov’s Office: Sarah and Todd can sue all these hideous beasts disguised in journalist’s clothing.

The DailyKos (Slimeballs) just put up a report saying it’s ok to defame her because she’s a public figure.

Let the fireworks begin!!!
