Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com. McNair, police said, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville. A female victim was also found dead, police spokesperson Don Aaron said. Aaron said the woman has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin. The incident happened near 2nd South & Lea Ave in Nashville. McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL, 11 were with the Titans. He played his final two years with the Baltimore Ravens, retiring after the 2007 season. McNair was picked third overall in the 1995 draft out of Alcorn State by the then Houston Oilers.

True, you never heard anything bad about him, both on and off the field.

Well, this is not good:

Ex-NFL QB McNair found shot to death in condo

Two days ago, Nashville police arrested Kazemi on a DUI charge while driving a 2007 Escalade registered to her and McNair. McNair was in the front seat, but didn't break the law and was allowed to leave by taxi.

The arrest affidavit said Kazemi had bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on her breath, but refused a breathalyzer test, saying "she was not drunk, she was high."

McNair and his family frequented the restaurant where Kazemi was a waitress, according employees and patrons of Dave & Buster's in Nashville. Keith Norfleet, Kazemi's ex-boyfriend, told The Tennessean newspaper that McNair and Kazemi met at the restaurant.

I tend to believe the murder/suicide angle as probably cause. As I explained on another site, the gun is going to tell the story. The pieces will need to fit because typically a murder/suicide doesn’t stage the crime scene after the fact but someone who wants to make it *look* like a murder/suicide does.

The ex-boyfriend, Mr. Norfleet, says a few things to the Tennessean I don’t totally believe. He sounds like he knows a bit too much about what his ex-gf was up to be comfortable with his story.

Plus, I’d like to know why the young lady had a gun. Most 20-year-old girls I’ve met don’t have a gun and wouldn’t know what to do with it if you handed one to them. That doesn’t mean that this one didn’t however. Who’s gun was it? Who was it registered to? Does the evidence indicate that the bullet entered her head at an angle consistent with a suicide? Is there residue on her hand?

As for the Nashville PD, they wavered between suicide and homicide because, it was said, it took awhile to locate the gun. Maybe it fell under the sofa as she hit the floor or something. Plus, the condo appeared to be locked with no signs of forced entry.

But I still want the ex-boyfriend checked out as he might have had a motive since he obviously wanted to get back with her.

I think the lesson we’ve been learning for the past month is that if you are a rich, famous, *married* man and you cheat on your wife, it *will* come to the surface eventually. Guys always believe they can get away with it but they seldom do. And the girlfriend always swears she can keep it a secret and she never does.

The NYPD’s CompStat data showed 516 homicides in the city last year, up from 496 in 2007. Of course that is a far cry from 1990 with 2263! Are most of these gang related?

Was it the uncleanliness? Slum area? Rundown?

Was it the faces on the person on the street?

All of the above.

My family spent a day in Memphis and had a great time... Did the Graceland tour, took a riverboat ride, and got a guided “tour” of Sun Studio, where Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and many other famous artists from the ‘50s recorded some of their greatest hits.

I've had people tell me that the area around Graceland is nice. I supposed the city makes sure of that since it's a tourist attraction. All of the tourist traps are probably well covered and protected. I will never know since I will never set foot in that city again.

A friend of mine in another forum lives there but she lives in the suburbs outside of Memphis. She says the upper/middle class communities are fairly safe but she never goes to the city. These aren't snobby rich people either. They are just regular people trying to stay alive. As soon as her husband retires she says they are out of there.

While I was right about the murder suicide, it seem it was the 20 yo girlfriend that shot him and took her life. That’s messed up. I take back my RIP to her...if she wanted to take her own life, fine. But why take his?

Murder suicide is EXACTLY how this is looking. Perhaps he told her that he was going back to his wife...most likely scenario.

RIP, Steve.

That’s the most obvious explanation but we’ll have to wait for the autopsies and ballistics to see if that’s what happened or if it was staged to look like a murder-suicide.

It just doesn’t seem likely that a 20-year-old, even one on drugs, would empty a gun into a man twice her size yet save the last bullet for herself. Most girls that age don’t own a gun and don’t know how to use one.

Then there’s the chirpy ex-boyfriend who may have resented losing the girl he claimed to have lived with for four years (and they apparently both moved to Nashville from Jacksonville together) to a rich black superjock almost twice their age. I haven’t crossed him off the suspect list just yet. He watched the love of his life disappear to someone he couldn’t possibly compete with so perhaps this was his way of getting even.

And we have the anonymous story of McNair being threatened in a restaurant.

Murder/suicide seems to be the most plausible explanation but we’ll know if it is the right one if the autopsies and ballistics conclude it is.

This Facebook photo republished by "Sports by Brooks" may be of evidentiary value. Did she take a picture of herself in a mirror? Or did someone else take it? If she took it herself, she's righthanded (nobody uses a camera with their less-dominant hand). If this was somebody else's photo, then she's lefthanded. All that matters because if there was a suicide involved, no doubt the hand used to pull the trigger had to be the same hand that was holding the camera in this photo. Odd to me that someone would take a photo of themselves and post it on their facebook page when it is not a very flattering photo but, then, I don't understand a lot of what goes on with facebook and myspace pages. I just can't tell if this is a mirror photo or not.

There’s an easy way to tell whether this is a mirror photo or not. Women’s clothing - blouses or button-down dresses always have the buttons on the same side. I’d have to check because I don’t have anything button-down handy. Men’s shirts button on the opposite side.

If someone can enhance this photo, it’ll show which side her dress buttons down, and therefore which hand is dominant.

I’m sorry, but it’s the truth. It DOES take away from how sorry one feels when one finds out some other truths simultaneously.

The other statement means you probably didn’t mind Bill Clinton and all his peccadillos.

Does it totally erase all else? No, but it really dampens it. I suppose only “murder” might lessen your view of anyone who has had “positive impacts” - which means, probably every single person in the world who ever lived. But in truth there are more bad things than just murder (and when one pushes the limit of “immoral” to simply murder, soon that will not count, either).

Oh, and it’s not a “mistake”. That’s a cop-out used by apologists. It’s an “error”, not an accidental misstep.

Yes...of course you are right. I'm just not figuring her ex for a genius able to make it look like a murder-suicide. I'm still betting on that; also, she is someone who looks like she might have known how to handle a weapon.

But, as you say, we need to wait...

Police are saying today that McNair had four gunshot wounds, two to the head and two to the body (I wonder if they are counting exit wounds?). They also say the gun was a semi-automatic which was found underneath the women’s body (and they wouldn’t have moved the body until they had done a bunch of CSI work, explaining why they thought it was a double homicide).

So, if it were staged, the killer would have had to lift up the girl and tuck the gun underneath her. Not sure many gunmen would do that when it would be easy enough to plant it nearby.

Most women act so scared after the first recoil that they stop shooting. They usually don’t keep squeezing the trigger. So, either this chick was comfortable around guns or maybe she was so drugged out that she had no fear.

I think it has become most likely a murder/suicide. It’s total speculation on my part but I think her DUI threatened to draw publicity to their relationship that he didn’t want so he was ready to tell her it was over. She had probably bragged about McNair to her friends and now risked losing her newfound status. We’ll never know for sure, but that’s how I am reading this.
