It seems like every time I venture into an Apple thread here on FR, it's similar to venturing over into Democratic Underground territory.
Personal attacks abound especially if you start criticizing Apple products or other Apple users for being naive into thinking Apple is everything their clever marketing department represents it to be.
It seems like the Mac ping list alerts the faithful flock to defend Apple to the death and that is when the claws come out and it starts to get ugly.
How much an ignorant idiot do you want to demonstrate that you are?
Neither would I spend $3000 for one, unless I needed to customize it a lot.
Do a little research for a change before opening your mouth and demonstrating that you really don't know what you are talking about. Here, Blue, I'll do the research for you, it take about two seconds:

Strange. I had an issue with a battery for my MacBook Pro 15.4, brought it in to the Genius bar, and within five minutes had a new one, free and installed.
We’re also talking about the concern of leaving your data in the hands of some iGenius dude making $7 per hour... Not exactly the way I’d want to spend my day being paranoid over what that turtlenecked pro-Obama dweeb is doing with my computer.
I was rounding it up Sword. $2500 is still way to pricey. WAY too pricey.
Was your Macbook still under warranty? Did you have an extended warranty? More information please.
In all fairness, he (?)’s talkng about a future Mac with a battery that doesn’t pop out like the ones we have now, but is integrated in the machine like an IPod.
Those relate the actual facts, rather than the breathless hype.
It’d have to be under warranty...the model hasn’t been out long enough to be out of warranty.
It just scares me that Mac, with the Unibody construction, would embed a non-user-replaceble battery.

Wow. Excellent spin. Thanks! Of course it isn’t “that bad,” but it indicates a serious design problem I’d want fixed before I lay out the green for one.
So why were you "begging the question" by declaring that the MacBook Pros would be useless in 1 to 2 years because their batteries would be dead and not replaceable. The fact is that you are stating as facts, things you admit you DON'T KNOW.

What part of "The price of the replacement battery includes installation of your new battery and environmentally responsible disposal of your depleted battery" can you not understand?
You are reading it wrong. And therefore arguing about things you are making up and are therefore "facts not in evidence" and inadmissible. The actual facts are Apple has always had the same language on their OEM batteries and WILL replace them if they fail before, under normal use, their rated life is reached.

I wouldn't go quite that far (yet) -- but it does get tiresome whenever there is a thread discussing Apple technical subjects and the usual cast of Apple-haters butts in to the thread and interrupts with ad hominem insults thrown at Apple users. Particularly noisome are those who attempt to equate computer system choice with sexual orientation.
Are those folks still in third grade?
I have no idea what mental deficiency causes such behavior -- but you can count on it here on FR. (This thread is the epitome: insults without even an Apple post...)
If your Macbook was under warranty and an extended warranty to boot then there is no surprise there they replaced it at all. I was hoping you were going to tell me this feel good story of you bringing your out of warranty macbook pro and they replaced the battery for free.
The facts I am stating are not even a question of IF but a question of WHEN the batteries fail, that the user will have to take their Macbook to an Apple Store. If that weren’t bad enough, you have to leave it there unattended with some Apple lackey in a black turtleneck doing God knows what sifting through your data unbeknownst to anyone.
