It seems like every time I venture into an Apple thread here on FR, it's similar to venturing over into Democratic Underground territory.
Personal attacks abound especially if you start criticizing Apple products or other Apple users for being naive into thinking Apple is everything their clever marketing department represents it to be.
It seems like the Mac ping list alerts the faithful flock to defend Apple to the death and that is when the claws come out and it starts to get ugly.
Rush Limbaugh is a mac user.

Why do people get so frekin’ bent over who choses to use what computing platform? In the grand scheme of things - this is like a fart in a hurricane.
Use whatever the (bleep) computing platform gets the job done for you, and quit pissing and moaning about what someone else uses because it’s different from you.
We got bigger fish to fry - like the country as we know it being destroyed before our eyes and no one gives a flying fig because they’re pissing and moaning about crap like this entire thread.

Huh?
As I stated Apple is all about snob appeal and hype...and way over charging the gullible.
This bears repeating! I can't see how the Apple Elite can refute this. Unless they just want to deny the truth.
MAC is an acronym for Media Access Control, which is a protocol that networking devices use to identify each other. The acronym does not refer to computers manufactured by Apple, which are called Macintoshes, a name which is commonly shortened to Mac. Not MAC.
Get the Mac... then invest an additional $79 in either Parallels or Fusion and run all of your software within Windows in a virtual machine with a slight performance hit over running natively (about 5%). Or you can install your licensed copy of Windows on a partition and run Windows natively. Use the Mac to safely do anything that might infect a Windows machine.
I do want to check a Mac out at some point simply because I do a lot of photography and photoshop work. Pretty much everyone on both sides of the issue says they can’t be beat in the graphics arena.
I’m happy with the PC but I get awfully bogged down by all the graphics work I do. I’ll probably end up with both at some point.
And you would be WRONG, just like most of your other strawman arguments you made on this and other Apple/Mac/iPhone threads. Even a little research would demonstrate that to you... but you instead elect to tell us, who know, what you don't know. That, my friend, is willful ignorance.
If that is a personal attack, then live with it. It's a statement of fact.
The Battery replacement cost for a 2009 MacBook Pro is between $129 (13" and 15") and $179 (for the larger capacity 17" model). Here is the proof.
Region | Apple Price 17-inch |
Apple Price 15-inch and 13-inch |
United States | $179 pre taxes | $129 pre taxes |
Canada | CA$219 pre taxes | CA$159 pre taxes |
Europe | €179 inc. VAT | €139 inc. VAT |
Switzerland | CHF 279 inc VAT | CHF 199 inc VAT |
United Kingdom | £139 inc. VAT | £99 inc. VAT |
Japan | ¥19,800 inc. taxes | ¥15,800 inc. taxes |
Australia | A$299 inc GST | A$199 inc. vat |
China | 1498 RMB inc. vat | 1098 RMB inc. vat |
Would you care to retract your claims in this thread and the otherand apologize to the Mac users who have been trying to educate younow or later? I hear that craw can be tasty (taste's like chicken) if prepared properly.

I take comfort when those who are
most critical of the Mac are those
who are more familiar with DU.

Fool.
I built my own PC’s for many years and got tired of the PC junk not working together.
Macs solved that, they just work...
When Mac people start a thread, Win users get on and start tearing things apart, and then Mac users respond defensively, it DOES sound sort of like DU.
Makes me wonder why PC devotee’s even bother to come on Mac threads, since they are so offensive, but oh...the threads wouldn’t be so contentious if it was just Mac users talking Mac.
It’s a Steve Jobs, pay-for-his-liver conspiracy, you know...
Folks just trying to live with themselves after having bought a computer, nothing else. Doesn’t matter what OS.
BTW, let me tell you about my LINUX machine...
:^)
I’ve got a tablet that I use for detail work when I paint or erase for close in detail. They take a little getting used to but its a more natural action once I got used to it.
I think you’re missing my point, I am saying you cannot buy a replacement Apple Li-Poly battery from Apple to replace it yourself, as they specifically state the Macbook will need to be brought to an Apple Store and have your laptop being held up all day at an Apple Store for them to replace. What if you don’t have time to schedule an appointment which it says you need to do? This is not the most convenient of situations, can we at least agree on this?
