They sell other birth certificates on Ebay.

Really? Got any support for that claim? I've never seen one or read an article about that happening where eBay didn't pull the auction from their site.

“eBay has a policy of not allowing the auctioning of government documents.”

So does that mean it’s real?

Otherwise wouldn’t it just be a ‘novelty item’?

I don’t think they ban those.

I now question the authenticity of the “document” based on the seller’s apparent monetary gain as a priority. What price does this seller place on his own freedom? Watch him quickly disappear from the face of the earth

The only entity on earth which could authenticate such a document is the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.

Without their verification, it's just a piece of paper.

I can buy a "Kenya birth certificate" in Mombasa with your name on it which can pass any test on earth - except a check with the relevant government, UK before 1963, Kenya after.

my only point is it's a birth Certificate, not a government document, am I wrong?

I have no doubt (personally) that if there was a British East Africa birth certificate on file in London, that we would have known about it two years ago.

Not really. I read the rules on Ebay yesterday. There is a phrase in there about looks like an official document.

How can the auctioned document look like an official document if no one has seen it except for the seller? HUH?

Is a dissertation an official document? So now ebay shuts down auctions based on rumors.

Those are some pretty serious charges. If eBay really believes what they’re saying, why haven’t they cancelled colmado_naranja’s account? http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/colmado_naranja_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ

Your post #50—hilarious link! “What I witnessed on ebay”—I agree that it appears ebay is admitting it is an official government document by pulling the auction.
