American adults from young to old disagree increasingly today on social values ranging from religion to relationships, creating the largest generation gap since divisions 40 years ago over Vietnam, civil rights and women's liberation.
A survey being released Monday by the Pew Research Center highlights a widening age divide after last November's election, when 18- to 29-year-olds voted for Democrat Barack Obama by a 2-to-1 ratio.
Almost eight in 10 people believe there is a major difference in the point of view of younger people and older people today, according to the independent public opinion research group. That is the highest spread since 1969, when about 74 percent reported major differences in an era of generational conflicts over the Vietnam War and civil and women's rights. In contrast, just 60 percent in 1979 saw a generation gap.

The youth today have been raised by leftists in the indoctrination centers called public schools. Is it any surprise that they’d vote, overwhelmingly, for a fraud like Obama....
So oldsters and youngsters disagree on culture and life in general......huh? Who would have ever thought that would be the case.
Doesn’t seem to be so much a “generational” gap as it is more an “Intelligence” or “Ideology” gap.
Wow—the hippies and “yutes” of the 60’s grew up and realized that “peace and love” ain’t exactly all it’s cracked up to be? Color me shocked.

What we have here is a failure to generate.
The older generation needs to cut these little parasites off at the knees by cutting off all their financing. Let them fend for themselves and see what the real world is like, without mommy, daddy or the grandparents to hit up for a loan.
They’d be hard-pressed to keep partying at their universities.
Personally, I think it’s more a case of Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton-itis. The kids wanted something new to call their own and went for it. In a way I can’t blame them for feeling that way - but it’s unfortunate that they’ll (we’ll) now get a fresh dose of Jimmy Carter.
I don’t see the youngsters having any sort of monopoly on liberal stupidity, and I see the oldsters becoming even more liberal as a group as they hit retirement.
At least the youngsters have an excuse - they don’t have the life experience to know better, and they were educated in what are essentially liberal indoctrination camps. I’m (pleasantly) surprised to find anyone in their teens and 20s who isn’t a liberal.
A lot of these kids are smart enough and observant enough that they will come around by the next election, or the one after that. We ought to be doing a better job of educating them as a group, but that’s another story.
I worry more about the oldsters. They’re either too stupid or too selfish if they’re still liberal. They have power, wealth, and time to push their agenda. Many are still stuck in 1967. It’s going to get a lot worse with this group until they start dying off.

LOL! That’s because the youth of today are a bunch of lazy slackers who just whine on ‘Twitter’ and ‘Facebook’ versus DOING anything. Besides; they have it pretty plush. Why rock the boat? They’ve been handed everything; no need to fight for anything. (I’m NOT talking about our Military; those kids ROCK.)

You’re right about this. The current generation certainly communicates (Cell Phone & Text Messaging) more than any other in history. Never have more words been used to say something with less meaning or significance than now. I was listening to a “conversation” between two of these malleable morons the other day. They were using the word “like” at least three times in each sentence. It was awful. It seems they have no existence apart from their addiction to gewgaws, gimcracks, gizmos, and gadgets. It’s no wonder our economy is in shambles. It’s based on the acquisition of shiny baubles; i.e., junk.

In 1972 the 18- to 29- year olds voted for Nixon 52% to McGovern's 46%, that was during the draft and the Vietnam war.
