After just five days, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is halfway to $400 million domestically, a box-office milestone only eight other movies have reached. If it climbs that high, the "Transformers" sequel will be by far the worst-reviewed movie ever to make the $400 million club.
Critics and mainstream crowds often disagree, but "Revenge of the Fallen" sets a new standard for the gulf between what reviewers and mass audiences like.

Shows how much I know about Transformers, I thought Shia LaBeouf was a woman’s name.
I don't think it took a swipe at obama, I think it hit him dead center in his lying lips with an accurate assessment. President obama - named directly in the movie - is mentioned only as going to a "secure location." After that, the President takes no action, gives no orders. Once again, voting merely present on important issues.
I thought the same thing. Pro-military (you will want to join the USAF after watching) and critical of soft diplomacy in the face of the obvious. There is more history/lore than the first installment, and a very famous aircraft transforms into one of the best characters. There is as much “questing” as there is “fighting” in this movie.
I did think it was about 1/2 hr too long and some of the robots have little or no introduction or speaking parts. The action, like the first movie, can be hard to follow at times. There is also more crude language so it warrants the PG-13 rating. But, if you liked the first one, go see this one. Don’t expect The Lord of the Rings, and you’ll be just fine.
That's one approach.
Another is to used the "professional" reviews in reverse. If they hate it, it's good. If they love it, it blows chunks. Not 100%, but darn close.
I can't imagine why the leftist critics didn't like it...just like the first one, the robot protaganist (Optimus Prime) is red white and blue. The plot centers on the struggle between the un-nuanced struggle between good and evil, with the US military being an unqualified force for good, even in the face of interference and threats from pencil necked bureaucrats. It even takes a shot at the self-righteousness of liberal academics with no real world experience and portrays cheating on a girlfriend as a particularly lousy thing to do.
I still can't figure out why liberal critics hate the movie ;-)
If you like giant robots kicking the crap out of each other, then this is the movie for you. I thought it was a bit too long. The first one was a “tighter” flim, this one has a few loose ends. The special effects are beautiful and I love the fact that the US military is a strong, well represented force that plays for keeps. I thought the pencil neck government geek was made to look like Donald Rumsfeld.
I would give it 4 out of 5 stars, just because it is drawn out a bit too long.
LOL, I wasn't, but this, to me, was unusually bad. They even had an "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" moment that left me going "WTF?!?!?"
We just look at the previews on tv or in the movies, and decide if we want to see it at the theater, on dvd or not.
“If you have seen this movie is it worth the price of admission?”
Not in my opinion. I enjoyed the first one, for the most part. Fallen was crude and mind-numbingly boring. I actually fell asleep for a second or two. The positives - special effects, pro-military, and an Obama jab. However, it’s not for conservative family viewing.
Definately leave your mind at the door and enjoy the spectacle. I thought inferior to the first. My major complaints would be the bathroom humor which was not funny, the only thing realistic about the scenes at Princeton U was they actually filmed on the campus, and I was very disappointed unlike the first the soldiers were not given much quality screentime. A more creative screenwriter could of done a better job especially utilizing the Brit.
According to my 17 year old son, who has seen it twice:
1. Megan Fox is smoking hot.
2. When Obama is diss’ed by name, the audience cheered (in purple-turning-blue New Mexico!)
3. He enjoyed it as much, if not more, than The Dark Knight.
4. Too much cursing.
It is on my “must see” list.
That’s all I did, just enjoyed the film.
