So why did he marry his wife if not for love?
Does 'love factor' make SC gov more sympathetic?
No. He loved himself more than his wife and kids.
I couldn’t understand what she saw in him ... not a looker from my perspective ... (just saying) ....regardless, he was still married and embarrassed his family ...
I hope not.
I sure wish the “public trust” factor would come into play more often. Sanford should go. No one should rationalize and encourage him to stay.
If you're a pervert, an adulterer, a progressivist, a politician or an "alternative lifestyle" zealot, yes.
Otherwise, no.

Power is quite an aphrodisiac.
Maybe so but I was never enamored by my chief pilot or my captain even though they could “advance” my career ... what did that lady think? That governors are for life? By the time his wife is done with him over the divorce he’ll be lucky to have anything ... three kids, child support right there ....
How interesting that Bill Clinton was exposed the same day, more or less, as Sanborn.
But GUESS WHO the MSM only covers? day after day?

A different kind of power. An analogy is women lining up to have sex with NBA players — even the bench warmers and no matter how ugly. Why? To be in touch with power (or fame) — to touch those that have it. The same goes for women who thrw themselves at convicted murderers.
It is a warped self-views that power comes from without, not within. But we have examples all the time. This is merely another.
Sadly, I only have women throwing themselves at me for my looks...

Bad question. The better question is: should the public sympathize with a selfish politician that didn’t want to keep his pants zipped who threw away his wife, 4 children, & his career to fly to Argentina to have his jollies with another woman for a week at taxpayers expense while the rest of the people wondered if he were dead or alive? The answer is a loud HELL NO! No way, no how, no chance. End of discussion. Get his a** out of politics. He jeopardized everything he stood for just to screw this woman for a week. Sh*t! He needs to be tarred & feather and carried of SC.
