2081? Won’t it be a lot sooner?

Quite a resource hog; but the notion of equality has always been retrogressive since the only way for everyone to be equal is for everyone to have nothing, in this there can be nothing new.

I remember reading this short story when I was a child. It moved me then and I think it was a big influence on why I became a conservative.

And the Left in this country will never see it for what it is...they will applaud this movie and not see that their big government policies, their fascism are what lead to a loss of power. They scream power to the people while giving power to the one entity which can and does take power from the people-government.

It sounds like a pile of crap.
It will be on free TV in a short time.

If by that you mean the way Animal Farm, Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 were crap, then yes, definitely; I agree with you.

The morons of society, together with the moron politicians, will do everything in their power to bury it.

I recall watching a TV show or movie in which dancers were performing with weights attached to ‘handicap’ them. Was there a previous adaptation of this story?

Are you saying Kurt Vonnegut is as good as George Orwell,
Aldous Huxley or even Ray Bradbury. LOL

Rod Serling (spelled wrong) was a genius...I watched one of his early Twilight Zones and Poltergeist was a big blockbuster and an almost exact knock-off of one of his early shows...with better special effects..

Looks interesting. Not sure, though, if there’s enough in the (very) short story to make into a feature-length movie.

Incredible indeed - Thanks for the link.

Looking forward to this movie rendition.
Someone should stretch the concept out to make a mini-series.

That's a great idea. I'd actually watch that. Mostly I just watch the news. (And Monk when the episodes are new.)

Just watch Harrison Bergeron. I bought the VHS (never released on DVD - you know why) digitized and watched on my DVD player.

Bump this...

I just reread Harrison Bergeron and found this link. This is sci-fi but way to similar for comfort.....

I will have to find a few minutes to watch the movie....
