Gulls' vicious attacks on whales (eating live whales)
BBC ^ | 6/27/09 | Mikey_1962

"Seagulls have learned to feed on whales by landing on their backs and just pecking away at the skin and blubber -- something never seen in any other part of the world... "You see big open sores, which we thought were pock marks of infection. Some are half a metre across and the edges look like thousands of bites."

KEYWORDS:
Clearly the hyperintelligent whales are simply allowing the gulls to feed off of them...they are quite sensitive to the poor gull's plight, being driven out of their natural habitats by man's pollution & global warming, and the whales have left the security of their underwater cities & high technology enclaves to simply do whatever they can for their seagull brethren, no matter what the sacrifice.

This is why it is extremely important for us to interfere whenever we can, and stop the greedy industrialists from building tidal wave generators off our coasts, because the noble whales will become confused when trying to swim around them./sarc

Sounds like the plot line of a South Park episode.

May I state it another way?

We are the baby whales.

The socialist Obama administrators are the gulls...

We don’t, after all, need all that excess blubber.

Half a meter is about a foot and a half. Interesting but probably not life threatening to the huge whale?

Maybe the Save the Whale Terrorists can go out there and destroy the lively hood of these heathen fowl. Animal Planet will give them another season.

It is my thought that the only hyper intelligence whales that have this happen to them are the ones who have, for what ever reason, lost their snorkels and have to surface against their will.

While one cannot discount the Whale's sensitivity to the Seagulls plight, I would think self preservation would preclude allowing themselves to be chomped on like a midday snack.

Most Whales in a modern day society have snorkels and never come to the surface, that information is provided by greenpeace who try to fit as many whales with snorkels as they can, just last year alone they lost 100 members while diving to fit whales with snorkels. It seems some of the modern enlightened whales misunderstood their(Greenpeace)intentions and killed them. Sad but accidents do happen!/SAR

A gull’s gotta eat. What else is a gull to do when the landfills are being closed and capped?

Doesn’t make snse. A whale’s skin is very thick and tough..I don’t think a gull could cut through it with its beak. If these are sperm whales, which eat giant squid, then they might be pecking at wounds caused by the suction cups/graspers of the squid...

Yep and they can also dive if it was painful to them...In Alaska I have seen whales just come up, take a breath and go back down....I don’t think gulls use scuba gear but the media get all hyper to some situations that are natural in nature......
