The IMPOSSIBLE is happening.
SPAIN..the leading # 1 team in the world, 35 game winning streak, they have shut out opponents in the series...and the soccer world already conceded that SPAIN is SUPPOSED TO WIN..YET HERRE THEY ARE SHOCKING THE FN SOCCER WORLD.
Kiss my ass you America hating soccer fans...
You are in a distinct minority that believes it is boring. Football [soccer] is the most popular sport in the world.
Did we win?:)
Epic moment it was:

As a Norwegian I was sort of happy for Solskaer, as a Liverpool fan I mourned :-P
So true, especially when they run amok after the game and kill off some of the fans. How exciting!/SAR
And how kewl to see Alexi Lalas in the studio discussing the game and the team.
I have always wanted to go to a World Cup match and I hope that will happen someday. I have been to a few games in Greece and let me tell you that I have seen some INSANE riots, fights, you name it between opposing fans!
Speaking of Greece, Alexi Lalas is part Greek!! Woo-hoo!!!
Of course not but that wasn't the point of my answer to the diss on Sapp.
If you wish to turn it into the absurd, then how many of the Spanish flies do you think it would take to block Mr. Sapp?
But back to reality, how many of the Spanish flies do you think can run a 40 yd. dash in 4.69 seconds with full football gear?
Interesting that the stadium in Europe has an oval roof over the stands but the field (pitch) is open to the elements.
In Germany some idiots brought flares into the seats and set off these huge fires in the stands. IDIOTS
I have pictures taken from across the way.
No, the USA is the Olympic women's soccer champ and became the first back to back champions in Olympic history when they beat Brazil in the final in Beijing.
Germany is the current world cup champion. Norway won in 1995.
Belay my last. You were talking about handball and I was refering to soccer. Sorry about that.
Never ever go to a Rangers-Celtic game in Scotland. Yankees-Red Sox are bestest buddies compared to those guys.
I’m for everything Team USA...
But some of these comments about soccer’s popularity blah blah blah...the best athletes in the world play American football, not soccer or if we must call it by it’s proper name....kommunist kickball.
Honestly, in America, not the second tier, but third tier athletes play soccer as opposed to football, basketball and baseball. So, that’s why we lag the world in soccer as a rule.
That will change as more and more Americans start making the big bucks in Europe. Tim Howard just signed a huge contract with Everton. There will be more, and more athletes will see soccer as a lucrative path, compared to football, basketball or baseball.
Thanks. Tho not a soccer fan, I do appreciate the U.S. in games like this and will try to watch the game. FWIW, the Tour de France means nothing to me unless the U.S. Team is in the race..........Years past when Armstrong was the favorite, my vacations happened to coincide with the Tour and I spent every morning in front of the TV watching the daily results.
Eurotwit and I started a little side discussion about team handball (look at post 99 for my start of it where handball fans don’t demand that I love their sport like soccer fans do).
We were talking about team HANDball :-)
My high school had a very good boys' soccer team. We were a basketball school and that team's coach wanted his players in either soccer (or cross country running) for their fall sport because they were less likely to get seriously injured and it gave them great endurance. The football team got the short straw on the school's top athletes, but the crowds still went to watch football on fall nights.
No, it’s called “football” because it’s a game played on foot, rather than the traditional score on the opposing side’s goal while riding on horseback, known as polo.
If you come to think about it, nearly almost every major sport that operates on the “score on the opposing side’s goal” can be called “football”, even basketball, hockey and lacrosse.
Soccer is what the girls play, right?
Unless you thrive on danger, never, never, NEVER ever go to an Olympiacos-Panathinaikos or Olympiacos-PAOK match. I dare you to go the home stadium wearing the visitors colors. I have a better chance wearing my Cubs cap in Chicago's South Side.
