The IMPOSSIBLE is happening.
SPAIN..the leading # 1 team in the world, 35 game winning streak, they have shut out opponents in the series...and the soccer world already conceded that SPAIN is SUPPOSED TO WIN..YET HERRE THEY ARE SHOCKING THE FN SOCCER WORLD.
Kiss my ass you America hating soccer fans...
Warren Sapp cant run far enough or fast enough to even CATCH a member of Spains soccer team.
You’re sadly mistaken, with a 4.69 40-yard dash speed, any Spanish fly within 10 yards of him would end up looking like a junebug on the windshield of a Kenworth..........
But can he keep it up for a solid ninety minutes. He would be sucking on an industrial size asthma inhaler after 5 minutes. They are two different sports requiring two different skill sets/ it would be like comparing basketball to baseball. The only difference is when they call it the “World Cup” it really is the entire world, not just some American teams calling it the “World Series”.
Lots of Americans are already playing in Europe and elsewhere. Foreign teams recruit players from MLS. We need MLS to give more Americans an opportunity to play pro soccer. In many ways it is a developmental league. Europe used to [and still does I believe] do something similar with basketball allowing only so many foreign players [non-European] to play on a team. European basketball benefitted as a result.
Do they have coed teams?
The only time I see it is during the Olympics. It looks like fun even though I have no idea what the rules are other than "throw the ball into the goal".
Agreed. I only have time for real sports.
I was in Chicago's Greektown when Greece played Portugal in the Euro 2004 Final. When we scored on the corner kick, it was up for grabs. When it was finally over and we won, we went outside and celebrated. The police came over to block traffic because of all the people celebrating in the streets.
A soccer game that’s not 0-0?
Wow! :)
When is that game scheduled and what channel broadcasts it?
>>There’s nothing better then watching soccer with real foreign fans who know what is going on and just getting caught up in their own excitement.....
So true. I was in Spain when Man U beat Bayern Munich in the champions league final with 2 goals in (I think) the final 5 minutes. Maybe with even less time. Surrounded by English buddies I met there.
Got hooked then, and do follow the scorelines, but I don’t watch many matches except for WC.
I coached my daughter’s soccer team when she was waist-high. Tried to get the kids to bring the ball up the sides, pass, center, strategy, etc., etc.
In a huddle, after seeing yet another kid bogarting the ball I even tried the Aesop’s story of the twigs tied in a bundle, you know—stronger than the twig by itself (before the fasces symbolism hit me...) and one of the kids ran away with it. All they wanted to do was dribble and gun.
Anywho, woo-hoo for the American team!
Yes....that takes great skill.
I always wondered what would happen if we took our best professional athletes from football, baseball, basketball, gave them the best soccer coaches, and gave them six months to learn the game and develop their skills, how they would fare.
I know that Kobe Bryant is a huge soccer fan, and actually does have some talent at playing soccer. If he chose soccer as a career I definitely think he could have been one of the best players in the world.
I really hate soccer. That said, don’t crow to soon, it isn’t over yet.
If soccer was a major sport in the US, we would dominate the world.
Imagine if LeBron James and Reggie Bush, etc. grew up playing soccer instead of bball/football. We would whoop anyone.
actually it is. Ended about 40 minutes ago
We’re big soccer fans. Our family has been to three World Cups. USA, France, Germany.
And how kewl to see Alexi Lalas in the studio discussing the game and the team.
Riiigghhttt........please explain how that can be?
Here's my explanation for the dislike: BORING!
Brazil will play South Africa tomorrow. It will be on ESPN at 2:30 pm Eastern time. I am assuming that Brazil will win. I want Brazil to win to see how the US compares to them. The Finals will be Sunday, again at 2:30 pm Eastern time.
All games are played in South Africa.
I guess you are forgetting rugby..
It’s simple like that.
Like basketball I guess. You can watch it and appreciate it without knowing every intricate rule.
The Norwegian women’s team are ruling Olympic champions :-)
so, here it’s probably the second biggest team sport after soccer.
Cheers.
