Ex-Idaho teacher pleads guilty to sex with minor

GOODING, Idaho (AP) - A former Bliss High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student last fall, including once on school property, has pleaded guilty to felony sexual battery of a minor.

Anna Bettencourt acknowledged she had improper sexual contact with the boy in 5th District Court on Monday as part of an agreement with prosecutors, who first charged the 39-year-old in February with two felony sexual battery charges.

Oh really? Go back into Genesis and check out the ages of Jacob and Esau about the time they had a big falling out over a birthright and a bowl of soup. How old were they? Did they have jobs and own homes? So were they boys?...or men? Yes it was a long time ago, and conditions in general were certainly different, but that has no bearing on the fact that people at their core don't change much. The very fact that we're talking about a 16 year old young man and a 39 year old woman having sex is proof of that.

The very term, teenager is a relatively new social anomaly here in America. Prior to the 1940s, nobody knew what a teenager was. In that day, when boys and girls turned about 13, they were simply expected to assume adult roles and responsibilities. If they didn't assume these adult roles and responsibilities, there were adult repercussions. How many of us here have grandparents, and great grandparents who where married and producing children by the time they were 16?! LOTS!

But we don't do this anymore as a nation. We believe that we owe it to our young adults to let them enjoy their youth and be teenagers...and do they ever! I'd say a 16 year old young man enjoying sex with a 39 year old woman qualifies and quantifies this to a tee!

As a nation, we created and perpetuated the environment for things such as 16 year old young adults who act like 10 year olds in many cases. There are no serious expectations imposed on them, so why are we surprised when they act according to their level of training?...which at this point is largely delegated to the government education system.

I also know people (as do most of here) who hold jobs and have a house who don't qualify as adults to most of us. Having a house was (until the sub-prime crash) as easy as borrowing the money, job or NOT... Good credit!! Bad credit?! NO credit at all! Yeah, yeah...we've all heard that. Holding a job is no great feat. Being a responsible, mature, and wise adult isn't differentiated by home ownership and employment. How many people truly "own" their own home anyway? Statistically, fewer than 20%.

This 16 year old young man tagged a piece of ass...repeatedly from what I read...probably thoroughly enjoyed himself too! She didn't force the poor little boy to do something he didn't want to. She knows good and well what the expected endurance level is for him and she got what she wanted as well. What's more is that you and I both know that there are men probably three to four times his age reading this now, looking at her photo here, and looking for more photos wishing that they could have been him.
