WEBSITE Google Earth has launched a map to honour brave servicemen and women who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Each yellow pin represents one of the 5,700 fallen coalition troops.
A line around the globe connects their hometown to the place where they died.
The site includes a picture and information on each hero, such as Corporal Bryan Budd, 29.
The Belfast-born dad of two, of 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment, got a posthumous Victoria Cross after he was shot saving pals in clashes with the Taliban in Helmand in 2006.
Google engineer Sean Askay spent four years creating Map The Fallen in his spare time, in San Francisco, California.
He wrote on his blog: "It's important to remember that each of these servicemen and women has a rich story."

Won’t this only be used to fuel the anti-war nuts?
Like they really need any fuel.
Wont this only be used to fuel the anti-war nuts?
Of course.
Google is an enemey of the traditional US and traditional western culture
You mean they didn’t instead do a map showing all the people that got to level 14 in Tetris?
The person who did this may work for Google, but he did it on his own time.
That counts to me.
Yes. I can’t imagine the GOOGLE people giving a d@mn about our fallen Servicemen.
I would like to see a map of all of the terrorist attacks around the world with a line pointing to the region or nation of origin.
See my post to jveritas.
This is a person, on his own time, making a contribution.
You all can poke at Google and their management all you want, but this gentleman did a nice thing and no amount of your indignant contempt for Google, the company, will change my mind that he’s done a good and noble thing here.
This isn’t about Google, the company, nor yourself, so get over it and yourself.
Well said.
If you haven't taken a look at it, it's impressive.
Don't know about them, but many in California do, as there is a huge military presence here. I also noted, this map was created by a Californian...It should also be noted more from California died fighting in this war than any other state.
This is an outrage, as the people who got to level 14 in Tetris did so with the understanding that future generations would be *required* to commemorate their achievement.
Shout out to Ganju Lama, who won the VC for his Tetris exploits on this date, and to the 7th Marine Regiment, who got to level 14 at Kunishi Ridge, also on this date.
It took four years of work on his own time to produce this. DOn’t be so snarky
My mistake, I did not know this. Good job for this gentleman.
