As rumored on Collider.com, Futurama will return to TV on Comedy Central six years after being axed by Fox, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reported.
A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television confirmed the pickup to Ausiello, who reported that the cable network has ordered 26 new episodes of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's animated series, to begin airing in 2010.
Ausiello could have credited Collider with being the first to break the news, but whatever. Yay! New Futurama!
Will the voice acting be done by the same people as before?
Time to party Bender style.
well, at least I’m caught up. I finally managed to collect all the season sets. I’m good to go...
It’s the show that won’t die. Always liked Futurama better than Family Guy.
I think so..
I have heard this before and all we got was a bunch of second rate movies that I liked.
Yeah. darn those second-rate movies, anyway...
I have all 3 straight-to-DVD versions of Futurama, and it’s just as good as the classic single episodes. Probably the best one was the “green yonder” DVD when the gang starts laughing at the environmentalists who wanted to save the alien planet, but Leela keeps ‘accidentally” killing the last of the species.
But everyone talks about this show as if it was MASH or something. I'll probably buy the DVDs.
It’s not a Simpsons clone, it’s another show by the same creator. Except funnier and with more heart.
It’s liberal bent is more than you could count because Matt Groening is known to hate conservatives based on his Playboy interview so beware..still I prefer it to that overrated Family Guy.
And the politics get limited to those jar heads of the presidents.
Futurama is still in reruns on the Comedy Channel. They also did 4 Futurama movies to keep the franchise alive.
I could never stand “Family Guy” - out of its way for profane, bottom of the barrel jokes. Futurama tag lines alone were a reason to watch it.
But seriously, I hope they do it right, ‘twould be a shame if the series jumped the shark.
The Internet is already buzzing with the news. Whatever Comedy Central is paying for the series is a good investment.
Git yer metal butt moving, soldier. You ain’t done yet.
