I remember that one for sure! Every word of that is true about cats! I love that cat saying “you may commence to adore me.”

Stepping in to say hi. Jaycee, we are all tired of the rain, but I’m afraid to complain. As sure as we complain, the drought will begin. Which reminds me, in spite of all the rain, I have to go water my flowers. Those pots dry out fast. BBL.

That looks like my first Sheltie (Dolly) but I think the one you posted is a larger Collie!

Anyway, I did enjoy the poetry.

Hi Nan! I understand the watering. I have a couple of things under the roof on the patio and two hanging ferns that have to be watered no matter how much rain we get!

We will be getting some stinking hot weather soon and then I can complain its too hot to sit on the patio....LOL! Guess the man upstairs gives us what he wants us to have, don’t you?

Its always good to hear from you, Nan! ((((Hugs)))))

I’m back. As you say, there are some plants on the porch that must be watered. I have my great-grandmother’s Christmas Cactus to care for. She lived in Warren County, TN. She cared for that plant and passed it to my grandmother, who passed it on to me, the one girl in the fanily with a purple thumb. I can look at a plant and it dies. I’ve felt a particular responsibility for that plant. I feel I must take care of it and pass it on to Emma. My daughter is too much like me. She would let it die, but Emma has already exhibited a love for plants. I think it will be safe with her. Now mind you, my great-grandmother died at age 96 when I was not yet 20. I am 75, so do the math. That is one old plant.

Hooray! I fooled around and found a way to get the picture from my Pisca files. Don't ask me how I did it, I doubt I could do it again. Sometimes I get lucky. This plant is at least 105 years old, probably more. Yeah, it's had a hard life with me. It's almost expired several times before I could rescue it. I'm doing better lately. It actually bloomed for me last Christmas. Thus the picture. A major event.

Nan, that is amazing about that Christmas cactus belonging to your great grandmother! I would guard it as if it were gold and I bet you do. My mother had a green thumb positively and my hubby used to tease me about having a brown thumb. I guess I do okay, I just don’t have too many to care for. I used to have more but I try to make it easier on myself these days.

Keeps me busy watering what flowers I have and filling up the bird feeders and birdbaths. Thats enough for me! So glad I got to talk to you this evening, Nan! You’re a sweetie~~~!

Little orange Kitten
cannot grow up fast enough.
Happens all the time

Lots to do Inside
the great big House. There's even
more to do Outside

Little orange Kitten
only gets to see glimpses
of what's going on

Not big enough to
stretch out on the Window Sill.
Kitten seeks options

Curiosity
can be a harsh mistress for
anxious explorers

The Pet Door beckons.
Leaving may be harder than
our explorer thinks

Things appear so big
from the Inside looking Out.
It should stay that way!

Little orange Kitten
has plenty of time to grow
up strong and handsome

Pretty One would be
upset if Kitten left. It's
better to stay Home

I know what you mean. I'm trying to cut back on duties. Problem is it's not working. The reason I've had to be absent so long is because I was directing a play for the Mason Co. Actor's Community Theatre. Hansel & Gretel. Here is a shot of some of my "kids" with the witch.

Oboy, you guys are in for it now that I've learned how to access my pics.

Nan, I just saw your pretty picture after I posted! You did better than I do sometimes trying to scan something to the computer! Don’t do it often and forget how to do it!

How do you care for that cactus in the winter months?? I am curious.

I have a good friend who has her mother’s HUGE FERN. Her mother has been deceased at least 25 years and I don’t know how long her mother had it before she died. My friend cares for it during the winter and takes outside in the summer. She doesn’t like the shedding when its inside, but she keeps it in her laundry room, hanging up of course and just cleans it up as it sheds. She has a daughter and I wonder if her daughter will take care of it someday. The daughter is a mighty sweet girl and she may be happy to take care of it. Now, me, I do not keep my two hanging ferns in the winter. One of my sons gives me two ferns on Mother’s Day, so I throw the old ones away as they begin to look ugly. No good place inside for them.LOL!

Ha, winter is a challenge. I put it on the dryer in the laundry room, which is the only place in the house with an east window. It’s warm there and I feed it often.

Terrific, Nan! Sounds like a lot of fun! Hansel and Gretel was one of my favorite stories when I was a little girl. I am serious about that. I bet your kids loved doing the play and I bet you’re a good, patient teacher!

I keep all my pictures on the computer, except older pictures that I would have to scan to the computer and thats what I think is hard!

Oh, and I also don’t try to keep ferns. No place to put them. This old house is lacking windows where the sun shines. The only place to keep ferns would be in the basement and they just dry out and I end up throwing them out.
