The tags, boldly appearing on each piece, told the Moores in no uncertain terms that the color of their comfy new set was actually “(Common rap song subject)-brown.” Enough to shock even the staunchest bigot where they stand…but that wasn’t the worst part – it was their 7 year old daughter who discovered the flagrantly fiendish flub.

Curiously poking around just after the delivery men left, little Olivia asked mommy what the word meant.

Ms. Moore then got on the phone and began a journey find who was responsible for the insulting label.

This is funny. They’d find it funny too after receiving the information as to how it came to be if we were such the victim society.

Thanks very much for your research. I thought I was hearing things due to poor hearing (years of hunting w/o ear protection).

The reason I ask is because I swear the group captain’s dog was named “N*gg*r.” Was I hearing things?

No, you weren't...also, later in the picture, one of the code words they used during the dam bombing raid was the same word.
On the subject of the "n****r brown" sofa, that description was in common use in England as a name for a dark brown color. This "Englishism" probably traveled to India during the Raj and made its way into that translation program.

As far as the code word, you are correct; this was also noted by Salamander. As far as British colloquialism, the word was used frequently in Hong Kong by Brits referring to Indians. A neighbor saw Agatha Christie’s Ten Little N*gg*rs in London years before any of us was born. Years later, I saw an advertisement for the play in the London Underground. At the time, I thought the ad was for the original play (knowing how long some plays lasted in the East End) so I wasn’t as shocked as some fellow Americans.

Same label, same couch. Different person.

Same label, same couch, same person. Over two years ago.

Stale story.

By the way, did anyone see “The Dam Busters” on TCM during the Memorial Day weekend? The reason I ask is because I swear the group captain’s dog was named “N*gg*r.”

Yes Wing Commander Guy Gibson real life dog was named “N*gg*r” and thy call him that in the first Dam Busters movie... there was a later remake where the changed the dog's name to Digger

In fact the is now a big budget remake of “The Dam Busters” by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings)in the works and what to call the dog is a big debate, Jackson is a history nut and stickler for accuracy (the guy has full size non flying replica Lancaster built for the movie)

From what I here they will call the dog "Nig" as Gibson did use that nickname for the dog

At least they didn’t get the baby sh*t yellow one...

Niger yellow is a brighter shade than that. Said to have been a favorite of Saddam's.
