"I thought it was going to be just another birthday," Dolores Hope mused as she attended a Hollywood gathering celebrating her 100 years.
When her late husband, entertainer Bob Hope, reached his 100th birthday, he was too frail to enjoy it. Although Dolores Hope was brought to Wednesday night's party in a wheelchair, she was alert and happy as she greeted old friends and posed for photographs.
At 100, Dolores Hope is little changed. Her white hair is richly coifed, her skin is smooth and her voice is deep and warm.
Her 10 decades were represented by 10 kiosks set up around the long patio of the Hope estate in Toluca Lake. Each displayed elements of the time. The World War I era was represented by an ad for the Ziegfeld Follies of 1918 and pleas to "Buy More Liberty Bonds" and "Our Boys Need More Socks. Knit Your Own."
Guests included Gloria Stuart, who will be 99 on July 4; Ann Blyth; Kathyrn Crosby; and Phyllis Diller, whose trademark laugh rose above the merriment. A number of priests were in the crowd, reflective of the Hope family's devotion to the Catholic church.
Her son Kelly Hope said, "When we were at Mass today, she told me, `Turn around; you're in church.'"

What a good looker she was in those 1930’s photos.
Happy birthday to Mrs. Hope.
And what a smart man Bob was, not only for marrying Dolores, but for understanding who Democrats were.

Happy Birthday and God bless you!
True enough, but friendship trumps political difference time and time again. As it should. Remember Ronald Reagan was Married to a leftist, Jayne Wyman, and Bob Hope him self stared with and was friends with many actresses that had left leanings. That doesn't make him one.
I read the whole article and the one thing she said really stuck out-we once were poor but didn’t know it.
Jane Wyman was not a leftist.
Happy 100th, Dolores! Congrats on a long life, well-lived!
Goes out to dinner all week, long takes trips throughout the year and entertains her family when they are in town.
Her blood pressure is generally 130/80 and she just full of energy.
God wiling she will make to her 100th birthday next year and we are going to have a major party for her.
OH MAN props to Mrs Hope
My husbands grandfather lived to 96 and died after he finished reroofing his house. He met his second wife at age 80 going to the “picture show” where she sold popcorn to supplement her pension.
“I have a friend who will be 99 in two months.”
My gggg grandfather made it to 102. and two of his 14 kids also made it over 100. One of them a girl died at 112 (1785-1897)
Just goes to prove you never know what day or hour.
Good for the both of you.
After the end of her fifth marriage in 1965, Wyman remained single the rest of her life, converted to Catholicism, joined the Dominican order and was buried dressed in the habit of a Dominican nun. I’ll bet at the end of her life she agreed with Ronald Reagan on many issues.
We have gone too far when friendships are shredded because of politics. One of the classic friendships that endured was Jimmy Stewart/Henry Fonda, both of whom served in WWII, but whose offspring went in different directions on VietNam. They stayed friends to the end.
“Wyman made it clear she did not agree with her former Husband on many issues.”
Nancy, too ... and Barbara and Laura Bush didn’t concur fully with their husbands on all fronts, either. All of them are more friendly to the ‘pro-choice’ position than their husbands.
