9.8 million people spent 1 hour of their lives watching Jon & Beaverhead Plus 8 last night. This was easily TLC's most watch episode ever. Jon & Kate even beat the Lost season finale in the ratings. That has to hurt. Sadly, I was not among the 9.8 million suckahs who watched, because I went to bed at like 8 o'clock. I wanted to make sure I was fully coherent when I watched, so that I could take precise notes. Kate is the master at this and she deserves my undivided attention. I watched a bunch of old episodes this past weekend and it really is like a master class in how to be a mega b*tch. The reviews from the critics confirm this.
UsWeekly compiled a few:
On Kate saying her life in the media spotlight is so hard: "Is it really, Kate? Tell that to a family in which the breadwinner has just lost her or his job, you silly, self-absorbed fool." - Baltimore Sun
On Kate saying the paparazzi following them is creepy: "What's creepy is having your children followed around by a camera crew. Any camera crew. Period. It's exploitation, whatever cutesy name you want to give it." New Jersey's Star Ledger
On Kate saying she's alone 6 times when Jon goes away for the weekend: "You just wanted to say, 'We get it! You feel you're the Wronged Woman! Aren't you savvy enough by now to know you're not winning us over?' This was especially true when she noted that 'all of a sudden, your kids are calling you your babysitter's name.' I could almost hear millions of viewers shouting, 'So stay home!'" - Entertainment Weekly
Beautiful, right?
Just from watching a few clips online, it looks like an episode of Faces of Death. Seriously, it's like witnessing their marriage get hit by a train in slow motion. They should be speaking to a therapist not a producer.
My favorite part has to be when the producers asks them what the future holds. Kate says, "I'm here" and Jon says "I'm here....for the kids." I expected the rabid beaver on Kate's head to pounce on Jon's crotch and bite into it. Obviously, when Kate pulled his nuts out she missed some of the root, because it seems like they are starting to grow back.
Who’s shouting?
That was pretty lame, lol.
Watching mere snippets of Kate and Jon puts my continued sobriety on the line.
Drink up!
But it is true, the commercials are trying to make them seem interesting and worth getting emotionally involved with. The network (TLC) wants people to watch the show, TLC knows people are more likely to watch the show if they feel they’ll like the people in it. That’s the point of commercials, and if that’s the best TLC can do for them they’ve got to be a rough couple of people. And of course the commercials aren’t my only source of info on them, I’ve really enjoyed reading the stories of this meltdown.
And like I said you’ve said things in this thread that completely support what I think about them. Here’s some quotes from you: “but I think he was guilted into it.” “People DO NOT change once you marry them. He knew exactly what he was getting with Kate when he married her.” “I think it started when Jon was made to quit his job and work from home. “ “I do think pride has taken over Kate. Ugh, this is the feminism crap that boils my blood.”
And yet I shouldn’t judge.
You are “You are judging something you have NEVER EVEN WATCHED!” See those last three words, that’s shouting. And you’re right it is lame, it’s lame that after all your complaints about Kate on this thread you resort to the exact same kind of crap she does to her husband on TV.
All my complaints about Kate? Please post, in content.
I did. Second paragraph, post 85.
Unlike you who listens to commercial soundbites and what others say about it.
I am pulling for that family. I want them to succeed. You left out my comment...."Again, as much as I love watching them, I do hope they cancel to get their family back together." Post #35.
“This is a real family we’re talking about here.”
I disagree - real families would never expose themselves and exploit their children for money.
I dare say I have never seen the show, or any other “reality” show, for that matter. I will say that anyone who would even contemplate doing what these two have done is not particularly stable.
"They seem to have reversed roles and Jon is fighting against it, with his natural instincts. I believe Kate is using outside influences (feminism) to justify her role in this. Although, Jon should have fought harder for his role as man of the family."
You left that part out. I see you're like the MSM, pick and choose the "quotes", out of content, to make your point.
Good for you.
But our conclusions match. I’ve seen the commercials and think she’s a shrew, and you’ve seen every episode and while you take more words to say it they all pretty much translate to “shrew”.
It’s nice that you’re pulling for the family, but they’re doomed. They’re celebrity seekers (or at least Kate is, and it really only takes one) that means they have deep issues and their household will suck whether or not they have a TV show. They might stay together, but everything you’ve complained about will remain a part of their lives.
Well I wasn’t going to quote every single word you said, that would have been a really long and rather pointless post. And really that quote doesn’t go against against the grain of the stuff I did quote. You’re still complaining about her shrew tendencies and his wimp tendencies.
And there is your problem. I was not complaining, I was discussing. You came on this thread with a negative shitty attitude and that is exactly what you have portrayed.
I came here defending and trying to explain what I thought MIGHT have happened. Yes, I do have more leeway to do so than you because I have watched them from day 1. Where as you have only watched snippets through commercials.
May they burn in hell!
I watched last nights show and felt so sorry for those children.
It is bad enough when your family is having problems, but those children have to deal with it while camera crews film every bit of it.
This “I do think pride has taken over Kate. Ugh, this is the feminism crap that boils my blood. isn’t complaining? Riiiiiiight.
You’re complaining, you just like to bury it all under a veneer of “not judging”.
I already said you were right and they should burn in hell. What more do you want?
You really really need to calm down and stop spazzing about this. They’re just a couple of people on TV. There’s plenty of other people in this country going through much tougher stuff that’s a lot less of their own doing. Remember, if they hadn’t sought fame, nobody would have been taking pictures of Jon partying with strange women. They made their bed, now they get to sleep in it, and if there’s crumbs in there that was their own doing too.
