Trust me. Religion and Politics are forbidden topics at Lodge. They are not discussed. And there is absolutely no point in you using sophistry to insinuate that they are.
We are also not to bring arguments into Lodge. That, too, is a very strictly enforced rule. No arguments about anything at all. Lodge is not the place to air grievances. If Brethren have a dispute they are expected to sort it out and not bring that baggage into Lodge. That is just how it is. You may like to think it is otherwise, but it isn’t.
No Religion. No Politics. No Arguments, Disputes or Grievances. None of any of that to be discussed in Lodge.
As I think I have stated: I, myself, have avoided membership in the Masons, though I have several Masonic friends.
I do think there is some friction or danger, in Masonic membership, if you come to the view that all religions are equal.
However, if you simply join with the feeling that “we are all God’s children” and that some know God better than others, or in a different way, and if you join knowing that your own Faith is what YOU believe, I think that would probably be OK.
The Church, it appears, does not agree.
So, I am glad that I stayed out of the Masonic organization.
However, I can find many Catholics with warped views, just as you have found many Masons with warped views.
I worry about “guilt by association” as opposed to the actual TEACHINGS of the Masonic order.
Every group has its nuts.
Such as?
“I am also a follow of Jesus Christ, the only son of the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.”
So why are you disobeying scripture regarding oaths? And worshiping false gods? And.............
Those aren’t lies about Masonry, it’s facts.
eye-in-the-pyramid bump
I am glad (blessed?) by being able to have folks who have had the experience in these things to be able to speak from an eyewitness perspective - unlike me, who can only rely on what I hear or read being true.
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
I can accept an 'if'.
What I can not accept is being told that there are 'innocent' persons being 'unfairly' treated; withOUT any proof to back up the claim.
Is printing out statements made by MASONs now considered sophistry?
Elsie, you seem to argue just for the sake of arguing. If MarkB, or anyone else thinks that Masonry is anti-Christian and doesn’t want to be a part of it, so be it. He makes his own decisions and has to do what he thinks best.
There are, however, millions of us who are know full well that Masonry is NOT a religion, does NOT claim to be a religion, does NOT worship false gods, and is in NO way anti-Christian. You, and critics like you, sound like the Pharisees of old arguing about exactly how many steps you can take on the sabbath before it becomes work, or making lists of all the “unclean” people you won’t touch in order to remain righteous. The fact is that you’re not being righteous at all; you’re being self-righteous, sounding like the most narcissistic and close minded of bigots.
Those are not facts, they are lies spread by evil people like you who desire to tear good men down.
Whether you know it or not (I suspect you know it), you are a servant of Satan, YOUR father, since you are a liar who tears apart Christians who happen to chose to serve their fellow man by means of a noble fraternity that has done great things for the world and this nation.
I have no desire to interact with servants of the devil, so don’t post to me again.
“I have no desire to interact with servants of the devil, so dont post to me again.”
ROTFL
I’m laughing outside but inwardly wondering how you knew.
Churches have secrets. Certain activities are performed by the upper reaches of the leadership. People who counsel with a minister are given a priviledge of sworn secrecy and relate horrible abuses and sins. Some churches demand that their non-profit status affords them rights to obscure public accounting which hides their dirty deeds. I schooled with ministers’ sons and daughters. I learned through private conversations and ventings of rage of past/present acts of evil so vile that I cannot or will not reveal these secrets on this site. Is this a mark against the church, christianity, or God?
All that said and some things better left unsaid, should I condemn the church? Should I condemn as ministers of God? Should I condemn religion? Should I condemn faith? Should I condemn God?
Vee have our wittle vays here in the Mason’s dontcha know!
