Unfortunately, "truth" is what people believe is true. There are those who believe the Koran is divinely dictated scripture. To them it's "real." Whenever we dig into "truth" we find human constructs at the bottom.
It is impossible to separate truth from our personal beliefs. It's like trying to separate genes from environment. They are interlocked and inseparable.
Absolute truth, by definition, is independent of our beliefs. If our beliefs correspond to absolute truth it is by miracle, if not by chance.

Being a Catholic, I can say that i have seen a clear struggle between good and evil in my church and the evil in the church leap frogged in the 60’s. Pope John wacked it but, as we have seen most recently in this election and at Notre Dame, the internal struggle for the soul of the church is quite active. I can see the dark side winning or dominating at some point with the appointment of the wrong Pope.
Every Christian sect has the same internal struggle but the Catholic church is the oldest, biggest and richest. This is not an anti-Catholic nor an anti-Christian statement; it just is the way it is and the way it has always been. Today evil has “progressed” in Christianity worse than it has ever been.
