Van Morrison recorded his recent shows at LA's Orpheum Theater so that he could give copies of the performances to Farrah Fawcett to watch from home.

According to E!, Fawcett has been a fan of Morrison since the 1970s, while long-term partner Ryan O'Neal and his grandchildren reportedly visited the musician backstage after his show on May 9.

"Van is also a huge fan of Ryan and Farrah's work," a representative for Morrison said, revealing that his favourite movies featuring the stars include Fawcett's The Apostle and O'Neal's Barry Lyndon.

The artist's 1987 song 'Queen Of The Slipstream' also appears in Fawcett's NBC documentary about her battle with cancer.

The singer will release a new live DVD, Astral Weeks Live At The Hollywood Bowl, on May 19.

I saw the special last night, it was very sad. Poor woman, she has gone through so much. Cancer is an ugly ugly disease. I lost my Dad in 1998 from Colon cancer that spread to the liver, so I am all too familiar with what this disease does

* Owned by Farrah since 1976, the image created the poster industry. Fonzie, the Six Million Dollar Man, Wonder Woman, the cast of SNL and the Other Angels soon followed.

* Poster appeared in LIFE MAGAZINE as one of the iconic images that defined the 70’s -- setting the still standing record of over 12 million copies sold.

* Poster has been reproduced and bootlegged over one billion times, appearing on t-shirts, mugs, puzzles, notebooks, bean bag chairs and screen savers.

* In 2007, G.Q. Magazine named the poster “the most influential piece of men’s art of the last 50 years.”

* In 2008, AOL users voted the poster the #1 Pin Up of all time. Marilyn Monroe's pin-up was second.

* Poster has appeared in such movies as SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, CLOSE ENCOUNT- ERS OF THE 3RDKIND, BOOGIE NIGHTS, and Mike Meyers’ upcoming THE LOVE GURU.

* Poster has appeared on such television shows as THAT 70’S SHOW, SCRUBS and MY NAME IS EARL.

* Poster has appeared in music videos by Everclear and Alabama.

* Poster was inside the time capsule of the Oblio Satellite Probe that was shot into space by NASA in 1977.

* Poster hangs in the Smithsonean (with Fonzie's jacket and Archie Bunker's chair).

I’ve never listened to Van Morrison, but certainly appreciate any love he can send Farrah’s way!

God bless her and her fight to live with this horrendous disease!

I watched the Farrah story on tv the other night and was moved to tears for sympathy, admiration and love for Farrah!

Always loved the great and quirky Van Morrison
What a beautiful thing to do.
Great to hear that one of his favorite films is the nearly unheralded masterpiece from Robert Duvall, THE APOSTLE, where Farrah played Duvall’s wife.
She was a highly underrated actress, and I couldn’t watch more than a minute here and there of the docu on the other night.Just too sad.

What you see above (with such detail) is the original. There were airbrushed (pre-photoshop) versions which were considered more suitable for general public viewing (i.e. less overtly sexy). You may have imprinted on one of those instead...
