I lost my dog today Goldie
May 11, 2009

Posted on 05/11/2009 10:16:24 PM PDT by restornu

Last year I inherited two small long hair Chihuahua dogs. My mother pass away on June 5, 2008 and left two sweet little dogs.

I have always been a cat person and sadly I had to put my cat down Oct 8, 2008 he Teddy was almost 15 he had trouble breathing and his lungs were filled up with fluid and the vet said there was nothing to do, it was so unexpected.

So that Sunday I had to put my dear friend down he was an orange tabby with golden green eyes.

These two dogs one was Goldie and the other is Foxie. Goldie was so gentle and sweet she was a treasure and I only wish I had a few more years with her. Her partner is Foxie he has different personality he is feisty and small he is like a little peanut.

Yesterday Goldie was prancing and somewhat playful Sunday I had taken her and also Foxie a couple of times to the vets I knew she needed dental work and had just gotten over Bronchitis and I was unable to take her to vet sooner so this week I was planning to take her in Wed.

Well this morning she threw up and it was white foam and specks of food than she started to shiver so I was watching her and decided to put her in a warm place and cover her will I keep praying what to do I had just gone downstairs to get the laundry and when I return up stairs I heard this awful sound she was coughing and let out a sound that was painful as I enter the room she was coughing up blood and my friend and I rush her to the Vet when I arrived I had thought she died they took her right way but could not retrieve her long enough she passed away.

The doctor said she had blood in the lungs and maybe a vessel burst and drown in her own blood.

It happen all so fast it does not seem real.

I was so invested in these pets and it seems so surreal now is just Foxie it is so numbing.

When these things happen unexpected my being was still in place to go forward for her dental Wed and now she gone it is over.

I just gone though this with my Cat Teddy if one is sick it seems you can't prepare but I have lost pets who were dying of cancer and that too puts you in a place of helplessness.

When my mother died it was a different kind of situation she was 86 and her world was shutting down meaning could not do her gardening which loved all her life and mild Alzheimer and vision going I could tell my self she is with dad now. I also tell myself that Goldie is with mother now.

But this void that is rip open and has not clue how long this will take to heal.

I am living in my parent home and being a senior now one reminisce about life and such a great appreciation and admiration of their journey here on earth.

My heart swells a lot when I think of them I am so thankful that they were my parents.

My dear sweet husband died Dec 6, 2001 I miss my love ones very much.

But most important is appreciation of those in your life I am so thankful that no matter those times or situations that would pull people apart that the Lord has a way if one heart desires to nurture those things and qualities and see the bigger picture that when they were alive one was unable to focus.

Sorry for running on just don’t know at this moment what to do with this void!

I’m so sorry. I had to have my dog euthanized a couple of years ago and can still get teary thinking about her; but those aren’t just about missing her but also in thankfulness to our Heavenly Father for allowing her (and previous pets) to be part of my life. I’m glad you still have Foxie for company while you grieve for Goldie. May your happy memories override your sadness.

You have done the right thing and included others by sharing with us what has happened to you and how you are feeling and thinking of it. It has been so much loss in your life recently which in and of itself must feel shocking and devastating but also you have had loss of very important people and animals in your life in the less than ten years. I am so very sorry for your loss. In each situation God is there with them and with you. I pray for your comfort during this sad and confusing time.

I am so glad though that you invited others into your void so we could write that we are either sad and or feel empathy for you and wish you the great comfort of God and of friendship. My greatest condolences to you.

Thank you for being a great owner of the pets and for making their lives good here on earth and for loving them while they were here. You have been a good steward of what has been placed in your life and this is all God asks of us there. May God bless you and guide you during this time and forever.

I thank all of you for you sweet thoughts I think my main propblem is I was looking forward to getting to know Goldie more after her teeth was fixed. She had trouble eating So I would prepare people food for her I had a blender etc.

And when she felt better I could hold her like I was able to do with Foxie he was so involved.

Goldie was very gentle and sweet but was not too keen on being held and cuddled.

She let me pet her and rub her and scratch her ears but was not comfortable being held where as Foxies loves it.

I had only known her for 9 mos. now that opportunity is gone.

I thank so many of you helping me to put my finger on what was bothering me it is helping.

With much appreciation to all of you pet lovers and even though we know we will meet our fury friends again it is us who are left behind who are so sorry to lose their presents and love.

These dogs were born in 2000.

You and Foxie need to go pick out another playmate for him. Keep Goldie in your heart but remember there is another Goldie out there that would love a spot in your home.

And don’t worry about what will happen with your pets should something happen to you. You can make arrangements ahead of time

This is a good time for you to be running on. I can hear your sorrow in your words, and I would like to share it. I, too, have lost precious pets and know how they are both family and friends and a joy in our life. Hold on to that joy.

I am so sorry about Teddy and Goldie - what a horrible way to lose your little friends, and only a couple of days apart. I lost my 1st dog to lung cancer a few years ago and it was devastating; shock and pain and sadness took over for about a month before I could stop crying.

God really loves us to give us such great animal friends like that for the time we get to spend with them. I’m sure they had a happy life with you and knew they were loved!!! I’m asking God to get you through this grief and to comfort you and Foxy.

Some pets simply don’t like to be held; it doesn’t mean they don’t like us.

My little furry kid (my yorkie) is 12 years old. Her knees are not where they are supposed to be - instead, they are on the inside of her legs (rather than on the front). It is very difficult for her to walk (unless she sees a javelina - then she can move VERY quickly.)

It pains my heart to see her struggle so - but she is not in pain - so I allow her to do what she can, for now.

I hope you were able to watch the video I posted - I know - it is a tear jerker - but, also a sweet comfort.

((((hugs))))
