It only happens when states start refusing orders from Washington. But theoretically, all that does is return us to a 10th Ammendment America, which is to say, America as it is supposed to work.

From the article:

They will muzzle politically incorrect speech and Christian proselytizing,

In progress, fairness doctrine

subvert and brainwash our children with state approved text books and school programs and

Done

use national media for political and social propaganda.

Done

They will establish unfair tax burdens on the middle class in order to redistribute wealth to the lower class — specifically to those on welfare programs, poor foreign nations and those people who arrived in this nation illegally.

Done

They will irresponsibly expand the money supply to pay increasing budget shortfalls, causing the dollar to lose much of its value.

Partially done

Their socialistic polices will create stagflation or hyper-inflation that will effectively wipe out much of the savings of ten's of millions of people.

Partially done

I agree that we are near hopelessly divided. But since much of these things are already in progress or done, why isn't the secessionist movement father along?

For what you predict there would need to be:

1. some egregious flaunting of the constitution

2. a catastrophic event that changes the fundamental outlook of the majority of the populace where they would put their differences aside for the good of the country.

Possible thoughts for #1 above would be Obambi being ineligible to be president but remains in office or a serious overreach by Congress such as taking everyone’s 401K.

For #2, a serious terrorist attack, much more serious that 911 (nuke or WMD) could renew a belief in America with a new purpose and solidarity.

Based upon the situation today, I just do not see it.

I’m not even sure the state boundaries would look remotely like they do today. Such a break-up would involve a lot of conflict.

Natural boundaries would develop, and a lot of the straight line borders we see now would be historical anachronisms.

It would be ugly. And bloody.

I think the bankruptcy of CA could be the catalyst for this to start.

Well, if we're gonna do it I wish we would get on with it.

I'd hate to leave the job to my sons. That would be shitty.

It will be that Ca, Ore, and Washington will go out along with Vancouver. Then, everything from PA, Md and NJ as well as DC will go out.

The rest of the states will join up with BC and Alberta along with AK and will create the second biggest country in the world right behind Russia.

“Because of your warning I live in a zip-lock plastic bag with clean oxygen piped in after passing through 18 filters which are replaced each hour.

Thanks to you, I no longer open a public bathroom door without using a paper towel.

I can’t use the remote in a hotel room because I don’t know what the last person was doing while flipping through the channels.

I can’t sit down on the hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed.

I can’t enjoy lemon slices in my tea or on my seafood anymore because lemon peels have been found to contain all kinds of nasty germs including feces.

I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking your nose.

Eating a Little Debbie sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of Trans fats I have consumed over the years.

I can’t touch any woman’s purse for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public bathroom.

I must send my special thanks to whoever sent me the one about poop in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing.

Also, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.

I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program ..

I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St.Theresa’s novena has granted my every wish.

I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.

I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.

Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.

I no longer can buy gasoline without taking someone along to watch the car so a serial killer won’t crawl in my back seat when I’m pumping gas.

I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr Pepper sinc e the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put ‘Under God’ on their cans.

I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.

And thanks for letting me know I can’t boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face...disfiguring me for life.

I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS.

I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise.

I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don’t support our American troops or the Salvation Army.

I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for or which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore and Uzbekistan .

I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman-Marcus since I now have their recipe.

Thanks to you, I can’t use anyone’s toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my ass.

And thanks to your great advice, I can’t ever pick up $5.00 dropped in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a rapist waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.

If you don’t send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 PM this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor’s ex-mother-in-law’s second husband’s cousin’s beautician..

Have a wonderful PARANOID day.”

Great e-mail.

A breakup of our democracy would be civil war, and that would require a complete failure of our democratic system....there would be nothing but ashes. If it comes to that, I imagine all civilization will be reduced along with us...there is no post-democratic-American civilization...it's lights out for us all.

Some are of the opinion that when the disintegration of America is complete, we will be absorbed by the European Union.

We have too many debtors around the world, the largest of whom being China, who can call in the notes at any time and when they do, we're righteously screwed. We will have to join up with someone in order to survive.

The author describes the precursors to disunion in the future tense. However, in fact, most of them have already happened or are currently happening. He states: “The likelihood that this break up of the union will happen before 2025 A.D.” It may be earlier than that. The dems are power mad and will most likely overreach. They are simply unable to satisfy their lust for power no matter how much they acquire.

Somewhat in line with post #41:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2246462/posts

“Utah lawmakers are considering following Montana’s lead and claiming state’s rights in the war over gun control... The Montana Legislature passed and its governor signed into law a measure making guns that are made and kept within state boundaries exempt from federal regulations.”

That is my most pessimisstic estimate as well. Another Dark Ages. For who knows how long. Unfortunately, it seems the moer likely of the alternatives - unless we can find the courage to end this regime with a stunning and brutal finality. De Opresso Liber.

We pride ourselves on how rational and civilized we are. It's a facade that will dissolve overnight. Not everyone, and not everywhere. But almost.

Agreed, see my post #42. This stuff is already happening or has happened. It will take a bit more the get us to breakup.

If the economy tanks big time (depression type stuff, 30% decline in GDP, 25% unemployment), then people will be in a daze and will be in no mood for the sacrifice a revolution will take.

I just do not see it, sorry.

Agreed. It doesn't take long for the worst of humanity to come to the fore...just look at the last century. As Reagan said: "We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”

Something has to diminish our ability to stop the inevitable anti-Christ from gaining power in Europe.

Very astute... I'm in total agreement with this point, and have thought about this for years... I never saw how it could ever happen until now.
However, it may not be our ability that is suppressed, but rather our willingness.
We have already witnessed several points in history where this country as great and powerful it is, has not had the stomach for war... even in our most recent defense of freedom and human rights, the majority of this country simply turned it's back on a leader who understood what was at stake.
As a result, we now have a leader who sympathizes with the very enemy we were trying to defeat. I would say that Obama is God's form of judgment on this nation... although not permanent. God's mission for this nation has not changed... we are still the light of the world for Christendom. What is coming now is not the end, but the beginning of the end... and God intends on using every tool and vessel He has at His disposal to win as many souls to His heart as He can before full judgment (tribulation) comes.

Don't forget that while this nation seems to lack a corporate memory beyond it's next paycheck, it is still very deeply and firmly rooted in Christ... as evidenced by the day after 9/11 when it was hard to find anyone who wasn't in a state of prayer for deliverance and justice.

I seriously doubt it will take much more than another 9/11 attack to expose the left for what it is, and re-unify this country to a point where it finally cleans house in DC.... Unfortunately, I'm afraid that what we will actually get will make 9/11 look like a fleeting bad dream... and I believe God is using the current administration to do just that.

Finally, for some insight on what Biden was talking about when he said that Obama would be tested, Read Ezekiel chapter 38.
I think that whatever is about to happen over there, part of God's intention is to keep the USA out of the way... So we might say in hindsight 2 years or so down the road that Obama was actually a blessing in disguise.

We'll roll that sucker for his money and then hang him in a tree.

I prefer lamp posts or other manmade structures myself. Sort of like this.

Except those Italians cheated, and shot him *first*, before they hung him up, rather than while he was hanging there.

Another catalyst might be if talk radio is ended because itis the only outlet/venting/communication resource the people perceive is still available to them. To end it is very dangerous.

Well, I'm kind of hoping he'll show up in my neck of the woods.
We don't have lamp posts and such but we have a lot of trees.

Besides, when the bastich starts to smell you can always fire up a tree.

Did I mention we'll roll him for his money?

I have a feeling that Alaska would joining the Southern/Mountain region rather than the Californication union. The culture in Montana is a lot more like Alaska, than Los Angeles. And I just can’t imagine Gov Palin linking her state’s future to California and Washington
