Free KFC Dinners Courtesy of Oprah.com Until May 19 (barcodes messed up)
Freeware Web ^

Posted on 05/07/2009 10:39:59 AM PDT by lewisglad

All the PDF coupons downloaded from Oprah.com on the evening of May 5 have the same bar code

The KFC coupon gives you two pieces of grilled chicken, two individual sides and a biscuit free. The coupon download is available until May 6, 2009.

It is redeemable from May 5, 2009 to May 19, 2009, but remember -- not on Mother's Day.

The coupon is a partnership between Oprah and KFC to promote the chain's new grilled chicken meal.

Forward this page to your friends, since now the official Oprah website makes you install an annoying coupon reader -- which you don't need

the correct coupon at the site should read '1234' at the end

KFC Riots Day II: Police Barricade Store

Something about this is racist and KFC must give every Black person turned away $10,000. (Oprah is exempt because she's Black and consequently can do no wrong)

Thanks. I’ve been looking all over for that image for the past 24 hours. LOL. You’re the first person on the internet who I’ve seen post it.

And if you do this process the right way, you’re forced to install computer printer software on your PC, which in turn installs spyware from coupons.com. Not nice, Oprah.

Question..was does it mean “Valid only if...etc”..how can they tell?

If you install the software required to print the free coupon it is supposed to give each coupon a unique ID number. Some restaurants have refused to accept the coupons which end in ...1234 because that was the sample one.

This is turning into a bigger cluster foxtrot than when Quiznos had a similar deal. The problem is that the franchisees are supposed to give the free meal without any corporate support. At Quiznos, many of the franchisees refused to accept the coupons. There are already stories about KFC restaurants limiting the total number of coupons they'll accept per day.

My next door “free cheese eating” neighbor told me last night that she was on the way to KFC for her free meal “’cause Oprah was buying”. I told her that I wouldn’t eat that meal or any other at KFC if the O gave me the franchise. I could see “Racist!” in the glare of her eyes as she drove off.”

Actually, the correct coupons should each be individually serially numbered.

The blundered pdf coupon is numbered 012345678901234.

The fools at Yum Brands did not think this through, since (a) the serial-numbering server crashed rather early on and (b) the individual restaurants do not seem to have the ability to verify single use of the serial-numbers anyway.

Then they panicked and posted a pdf of the “1234” coupon, making the whole thing moot.

There’s going to be some legal action here, I think.

Yum is really spinning now, they are calling 1234 a 'sample?' (when Orca had it all over her website)

But if the individual store owners have no corporate support, I can see why they are shutting the doors--like in NYC
