An internationally known Catholic priest sometimes called "Father Oprah" has been removed from his posts in Florida after published photos showed him lying down bare-chested in an embrace with a woman on a beach. The photos of the Cuban-American priest appeared on the cover of this week's TV Notas magazine. 1 of 2 The Rev. Alberto Cutie (pronounced koo-tee-AYE) -- who got the nickname "Father Oprah" because of the advice he gives on Spanish-language media -- remains a priest. But he was relieved Tuesday of his duties at St. Francis De Sales Church in Miami Beach, Florida, and at the Radio Paz and Radio Peace networks, said a "deeply saddened" Miami, Florida, Archbishop John C. Favalora.

I see some encouragement but little discipline. In my church people who lead immoral lives are not allowed to be leaders.

And what church would that be? Can you tell me how many politicians claim to belong to the same church?

But if you're referring to this priest ... he's been removed.

Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise.

21 of the 22 Churches sui juris which comprise the Catholic Church ordain, as a norm, married men. However, once ordained, a single Priest may not marry. Also, married men who are ordained must adopt the discipline of celibacy if their spouse precedes them in death.

Eastern Rite Churches, which are in communion with Rome, permit their clergy to marry.

Incorrect. Married men can be ordained. Once ordained, the clergy are not allowed to marry. Big difference.

Had he been cuddled up with the woman’s SON, all would be forgiven...

I’ve seen him on TV — he’s a great speaker, hugely charasmatic and also extremely handsome. I hope he finds happiness in his future outside the church.

How about Notre Dame inviting to speak and giving an honorary degree to Odinga the muslim?

This says a lot about hypocrisy in the entire church and not just the individuals to all Catholics, non-Catholics and even atheists.

How about the fact that many, many bishops are protesting this meeting? And the lay people are as well.

How about the Pope actually stopping them? The protests are below the radar. The muslim scumbag awarded a honorary degree by the Catholic church is the story.

Further, the story in the media is an embarrassment as most people wouldn't let the kenyan klown clean their litter box much less honor him like Notre Dame.

Don’t you think the pope has too many other things to take care of that a wayward American university? Keep in mind, the Catholic Church is worldwide ... not just in this country.

Protests are only below the radar because the MSM keeps them there. In fact, they seem to like the stories that make the RCC look bad.

This is a big deal and I don’t think the Pope is too busy to address something this important. It makes the entire Catholic church look like a bunch of hypocrites and you guys don’t need that in light of your last huge sinful scandal.

How much more respect are Catholics willing to lose after all that they have already lost? Sacrificing what little is left is acceptable?

The pope has no time to get involved with every thing that happens in the American church. That’s a full time job with all the “Catholic” politicians we have here.

Notre Dame gave up being Catholic long ago under JPII. Many other “Catholic” universities have followed suit. What do you want Benedict to do, appoint a university oversight office in the US? And, no, it does not make the entire Church look bad. It makes the university look bad. There are plenty of FR posts showing all the bishops and others protesting this event .... just try a simple search.

It’s not as under the table as you think it is.

Certain universities are related to certain things, such as Berkley is considered a liberal bastion Notre Dame is considered to be representative of the Catholic Church.

I am just telling you what the relatively religiously disinterested Odinga hater is seeing. Whether you like it or not this does not reflect well on the nations perception of the RCC. We just don’t know if it is out of the church’s hands, they agree or just don’t care.

This is probably how it started for Martin Luther. One ribald photo in the Wittenburg Inquirer and BAM! he’s out of a job and nailing thesis to doors.

Which makes the whole situation sound like a plot from a porn movie.
