I don't even have a cellphone. This PC is about as techno-sofisticated as I want to be.

I am not sure all of this is helpful anyway. Sometimes we get so caught up in this stuff we fail to participate in REAL activities.

I told a friend of mine about Twitter about a 6 weeks ago, or so, and she had not heard of it at all and I said, “Oh, you WILL.”

Keeping an open mind - can someone make a good argument for why the twitter feed is better or has more utility in certain respects than FR’s news page?

Exactly. It serves no useful purpose.

We didn’t need all that crap to organize the Tea Parties.

Oh I am quite sure many people did Tweet about the parties.

It’s just that I know how addictive FR can be even for me. Of course, I’m on the computer for hours at a time due to school work and, thus, I’m back and forth with FR and work.

Meanwhile, though, I’m a little concerned with all of the focus on all of the social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, the myriad blogs and so on.

If we are all sitting in our own little universes and tweeting or freeping or whatever, are we really doing work that will matter in the long run - such as participating in local government. I think this is important because local government is where it starts and the Muslims are making big inroads here.

We need to be judicious with our time. The Bible says to “redeem the time for the days are evil” and I think nothing says it better than we only have so much time to spend (redeem) and we need to spend it wisely (meanwhile as I freep away here)

I’m with you. FR is my worldwide newspaper. I routinely find out about things here (often non-political items of interest) that my circle of friends and family don’t hear about for days or weeks later. Susan Boyle is an example. I read about that here on FR before her appearance had even been broadcast on ITV.

No . I agree totally - but they should run out of money soon - being that they haven’t figured out how to bring in revenue much less make a profit.

Perhaps one of 100,000 people has a message so profound yet concise that it can be said in 140 characters or less. I just don't "get" Twitter or why people are enamored of it.

I am of a similar opinion. It seems more of a "hit and run" on any given topic.

It seems more like a web based 'chat room' environment or headline site.

[But, I don't get 'texting' either. If one takes the time to type out a message on a cell phone, why not just dial the number and tell the recipient in person or leave a voice mail. 'Texting' actually seems to be a giant step backward.]

on twitter. Please fell free to follow me or invite me to follow you. I am not a huge fan of it. But I joined it because I want to communicate with as many like minded ppl as I can. One of the reasons that the left kicked our as$ because of their ability to organize using the latest technology.
