The city of Los Angeles will be instituting harsh new rules for individual water usage due to the states current shortage. The LA City Council approved new water conservation measures regarding sprinkler systems in particular. Automatic sprinkler systems may only be used on Mondays and Thursdays. A water conservation force will wander the neighborhoods of LA looking for violators to cite if you happen to run the sprinklers on a Sunday, youll get a warning; a second time, and youll get a fine that can run up to $600. The price of water will also be rising.

Harsher fine than shooting a cop.
And if your lawn dies you’ll be fined for unsightly vegetation ...
This isn’t even close to Breaking News.
wonder what the environmental ‘impact’ and cost is of these asshats riding around in their clown-mobiles checking up on everyone’s lawns...
Not a word of the 4,000,000 illegal aliens drinking, showering and using water in California...nope.
LA is a friggin Desert. It will turn BROWN if they do not water it. Trees will die, Freeway landscapes will go Brown.
Unemployment waits for the Illegal Alien yard mowers and Gardeners.
I’ve seen San Fran turn Brown in the drought of the late 70’s. LA’s personality will go ugly dead decaying Brown if the people can’t water it.
greenies at work.....doing their worst....WE LIVE ON A WATER PLANET PEOPLE !!!!!
I live in Contra Costa and we have to reduce our water bill by 10% as compared to last year..
Contra Costa Water District customers must conserve or pay more

Water cops!!! We had those in Colorado Springs until the year 2006 due to lack of snow in the mountains and the 10 year drought....$100 then $500 for wasting water along with sod and seed permits ...$50. But, not any more! We are at 120% snowpack and just had 4 feet last weekend and more coming this weekend. Guess we can start filling up Lake Powell and Lake Mead!
There is a more honest way to tackle the issue of the water shortages in S. California - a real issue - and that is simply to greatly raise the water fees the municipal water systems charge. Supply is NOT meeting demand, so raise the price until it does. If the price is right, people will, on their own, cut off the sprinklers before the bath or toilet.
But no; the politicians want water to be both priced-cheap (popular but stupid) AND highly supply-regulated, so that everyone knows they, the politicians, not supply and demand, are “fixing” the problem. /sarc
You should have splurged last year and left the hose running so you can have plenty this year.
Desalination plants would probably ruin the fricken habitat of something or the other.
Not to mention use God’s own (men anyway) and leave the sprinklers on.
Thats what pisses me off i do not splurge, most of our plants are cacti or drought tolerant,we do not have sprinklers.
Most of my neighbours are amazed how low our water bill is and we will be hit hardest to reduce by 10%...
Penalized for doing the right thing. The trademark of commie socialists. They don’t care about anything but money and power. No reasoning with them.
“Penalized for doing the right thing”
Yep and we have a very low gas and elec bill
Shudders to think how they will do me over on that one..
I expect that next up will be fines for using your barbecue without permission.
That's the paradox of water rationing in CA. If you are a conscientious, responsible user and try to use as little as possible your ration will be based on your prior usage. You will be impacted much more than someone who uses water in non-rationing years and does nothing to be thrifty with water usage
the city of Tampa, April 3rd, banned the use of all irrigation systems in the city limits. Use of soaker hoses and controllable spray heads attached to hoses may only be used in plant/flower/shrub beds. Only controllable spray heads may be used on turf grasses. We have one day a week in which to water between 6pm and 8am. It takes me 2 hours to water the yard. Thank God for mp3 players.
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District already has that covered. Its called Spare the air days. Altho at present it seems to be confined to fireplaces
