Those Boboli crusts turn out good product.
At most you'll dirty up a skillet browning burger or sausage.
I've made a few where I couldn't even down two slices it was so massively topped.
Total outlay of cash is usually something like six or seven dollars
for a pepperoni-hamburger pizza of Biblical proportions.
Peppers, of course, are home grown.
Good eating.

you have to distinguish they types of pizza.
If you really are a purist then pizza starts out waaaaay back (per the late fugal gourmet jeff smith) with ancient Greeks flattening out bread spreading oil in the middle with rye and sessame type seeds and goat cheese in the middle on top of the cooking flat bread.
it is until the WWII era that we get to modern day defined pizza and that is an all american dish.

Actually, I hate giving New Yawk or Chicaaaago credit for ANYTHING decent and good. But in this case, I prefer the thin crust over that cake with tomato paste icing that Chicaaago insists on calling a pizza.

Javelina and Elk sausage, jalapeno peppers, tomato sauce made at home, yellow onion and longhorn cheese with just light spray of red creek marinade for flavor ! Chase it with cold beer and Ta Daaa !

Thanks!
I had a Chicken Caesar Salad Pizza last nite at a local Italian restaurant for a fundraiser—sounds strange but it was delicious :)

I am saddened to see this history did not include the Appian Way pizza-in-a-box kit. They were marginally a pizza and were not really all that bad. A lot of work, though.
HEY! They still make it! I used to make them in the '60s, maybe even earlier.

A lot of work, though. The process has improved!

The hard part was making that crust as I recall.

I had no idea there were not tomatoes in Europe, prior.
