Yankee Stadium debuts today. The Indians have just scored 9 runs in the 7th inning to take a 10-1 lead, including a grand slam. NYY bullpen falls apart.
personally I think that all American concepts of class warfare are really rooted in Yankee hatred, but I digress...
Chien Ming Wang has a huge ERA for the Yanks now.
Sorry, Wang number!
Yeah Suzyn “Georgie Girl” Waldman mentioned the chant!
Yanks get one run this inning. Tribe? 9.
there must be more ortiz jerseys buried in the concrete floors somewhere.....lol....
Tribe may be 2-7 before this gm actually
red sox fan here...that is just too dang funny...
I was listening earlier when it was only 1-0...checked yahoo game tracker and saw it was 5-1 Tribe, and put radio on AM 790 which comes in well even north of Boston...and heard them call the grand slam then the solo home run. What a great opening day for the new park! (Sox fan here too of course)
Agreed
Serves them right for tearing down The House That Ruth Built into a parking lot...here’s hoping the Curse of the Bambino is alive and well.
got to love it....one of the owners of the company i work for here in florida flew home for the opener....i am going to be roflmao when he gets back....
Give MLB gameday a shot. Go to www.mlb.com. Find the game on the schdedule at the left of the screen and click on the little baseball diamond. It’s free, and better than the Post’s effort.
You da man!
“personally I think that all American concepts of class warfare are really rooted in Yankee hatred, but I digress...”
Yes and no. I am a Pirates fan, so I just hate them seeing that they can go out and buy the best FAs on the market for their team ... I guess that is a “class warfare” based jealously on my part :-)! (all of the Pirates problems center on horrid drafting and management though).
However, I also hate teams that flat out don’t build from within and try to win by buying...so it is kind of a mix for me. I am not saying the Yankees are always like that...most of their excellent teams of the 90s were homegrown players if I am not mistaken. But this “going out to buy both Sabathia and Texeria” makes us small market folk puke :-) .
Your comment has a lot of merit though...please don’t get me wrong.
They won’t be able to have beer in the new stadium if they lose the opener..
The Yanks have just ushered in a curse that will last longer than the Bambino’s curse on the Red Sox. HA!
Our nation has torn down our history. In the name of CHANGE. Thanks MLB.
On Monday they had the first game in the new Mets stadium. The very first batter for the Padres, Gerut, hit a home run. Said to be the first time ever that the first batter in the first regular-season game in a new stadium hit a home run.
Give a big thanks to Selig the Slug. If he did’t void the trade of A-Fraud from TX to Boston you guys still woulnd’t have a WSC.
So....all that glory, all those great players weren’t good enough..they had to move, and in time they will destroy Yankee Stadium.
