NY post live blog

http://blogs.nypost.com/sports/backpage/archives/2009/04/first-regular-s.html

>>3:57 — That’s why Marte wasn’t in to face Sizemore. Sizemore just hit a grand slam off the Yankees reliever to make the score 9-1 Indians. And Martinez follows that hit a solo shot two batters later.
So the line so far for the Bombers bullpen: 1 IP, 9 ER. Good stuff.

Isn’t Geo. Steinbrenner from Cle. originally? Oh the pain.
The pain! And the Tribe is 1-7 going into this game.

The first game at the House That A-Rod built. It’ll be one
to remember!

I was listening on MLB.com - they pulled Sabathia after 5 & 2/3rd innings (with a 1-1 tie) because he had thrown 120 pitches. I switched to the Cubs-Cards game after the Sizemore grand slam (first ever in the new stadium).

Suzyn “Georgie Girl” Waldman, Yankees radio: “And if you wondering what the crowd was chanting as we went into
a commercial, it was ‘We Want Swisher’”

THis is indeed the curse of the Babe as I predicted when they first broke ground for Steinbrenner Park. They broke ground when the Yanks were up 3games to 0 to the Bosox and we saw how that turned out.

The Yankee mgmnt. kept on repeating how an era was ending..and what era that was....so welcome to the new era of the Yankees at Steinbrenner Park. The Yanks will be to MLB what the Cowboys are to the NFL; glitzy, expensive and living off past glories.

And what’s the Yankee payroll that they get manhandled by the 2 and 7 Cleveland Indians?

Great payroll difference between the two teams. It’s now
10-2...

Yankee fans: got any rings THIS century? And as for last
year, got playoffs?
