A Kenyan man bit a python which wrapped him in its coils and dragged him up a tree during a fierce three-hour struggle, police have told the BBC. The serpent seized farm worker Ben Nyaumbe in the Malindi area of Kenya's Indian Ocean coast at the weekend. Mr Nyaumbe bit the snake on the tip of the tail during the exhausting battle in the village of Sabaki. Police rescued Mr Nyaumbe and captured the 13ft (4m) reptile, before taking it to a sanctuary, but it later escaped.

In this photo provided by the Everglades National Park, the carcass of a six-foot American alligator is shown protruding from the midsection of a 13-foot Burmese python Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 in Everglades National Park, Fla., after the snake apparently swallowed the alligator, resulting in the deaths of both animals. Journalism needs to change its most cherished cliche.
It made me laugh that the alligator was American. I went back and started to re-read the sentence. Then I realized it was relevant because the python was Burmese.
Same tag and release approach is being used against the terrorists at Gitmo.
> “We are still seriously looking for the snake,” said Supt Katam. “We want to arrest the snake because any one of us could fall a victim.”
I had to re-read the quote...’ARREST’ the snake??
Because, you can't be sure it understood the Miranda warning.
Find Chet quick.
Another vicious PitSnake attack!
KENYA COP: “Do you understand the rights that have been read to you?”
SNAKE: ‘Yessssssssssssss.”
maybe
“ah rest it on da fire an roast it”?
Doctor: "Good Lord, man, how did this happen!"
Snake: "Well Doc, it started out as a small wart on my tongue, then...."
Obviusly, they need more python-control laws.
“which wrapped him in its coils and dragged him up a tree during a fierce three-hour struggle”
A python cannot squeeze someone and climb a tree at the same time. And, 3 hours? C’monnnnnn.
Man bites snake, now that’s news.
As in stop, not as in "everything you hiss can and will be used against you".
They speak "British" there.
The only somewhat credible part of the story is the guy resisting by biting the tail. Uncoiling a python is easier if one starts from the tail. The muscles just don't hold as well. In addition. if one grabs the tail near the cloaca and bends upwards, the snake's genitals are put under pressure, and the snake will move to relieve that pressure. Manipulating the direction of movement can help uncoil the snake.
