Your mortgage holder owns your house and the government owns your mortgage holder. Problem solved.
BUMP the 3rd!
Actually, they were looking at a much better known and "real" tyrant, Louis XIV.
George was quite moderate when it came to oppression. Louis, though, was a lesson for the ages. His practice was to send the Dragoons out to the homes/estates of Protestant Frenchmen to live. They had the run of the place - ate all the food, used all the furniture, wore all the clothes, and raped the women.
All the Frenchman need do to end this occupation of his home was simply attend Catholic mass (as demanded by the King).
The "but in a manner prescribed by law" points directly to Louis and not George because Louis did it under his own authority in the Dragonettes Orders. George followed laws passed by parliament.
The first and second amendments also point back to the days of Louis XIV - particularly the 2nd - since the Protestants decided it was best to NOT disarm at the conclusion of the Religious Wars.
I am pleased to note that modern Catholics in America, and France, probably agree for the most part with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd amendments and find them quite advantageous for their own purposes of religious freedom - as should all real Protestants.
