First Lady's fashion sense falters as Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown meet...

After the G20 wives wowed us with their style prowess yesterday, Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown appear to have stumbled in the glamour stakes with today's choice of clothing... Yesterday's dazzling J. Crew outfit may have won her praise from the hard-to-please fashion press - but the bizarre cardigan sported by Michelle Obama at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden today was rather less well-received. The First Lady kept her famous toned arms covered in the asymmetric creation by Japanese designer Junya Watanabe, which featured a garish argyle pattern and was embellished with yet more sequins. A far cry from her signature sleeveless shift dresses, Mrs Obama also wore a teal-coloured full-skirted prom dress by Jason Wu.

Michelle Obama, wearing a teal dress with an asymmetrical cardigan and her double-strand pearls, greets student Brenda Mensah after the girl sang a song during the first lady's visit to the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Language School in London. The first lady, who accompanied President Obama to London for the G-20 summit, also visited the Royal Opera House with Sarah Brown, the wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and other wives of world leaders. It’s not buttoned wrong, it just doesn’t fit, like most of her cardigans, it’s too small. It also doesn’t go with the dress. It looks atrocious together. The sweater might look ok on someone who wears that size, with perhaps a pair of slacks.
She has no fashion sense and I’m am tired of them all drooling over her nonsensical fashions.

is this an April Fool’s joke? what the heck is that? that sweater—so inappropriate for that dress... and it doesn’t even fit her! i thought by now she would have put in hours learning how to stand...

this outfit with the light green skirt looks wrong, too... she looks like an elementary school principal at best... those pearls have got to go already... i guess you can’t fake elegance... we were spoiled by President Bush and First Lady Laura...

The sweater doesn’t match the dress and the shoes don’t match either of them.

Michele is channeling Mr. Rodgers.

Mr. Rogers wouldn't have been seen dead in that schmatte.

WHO is dressing this woman??? She needs to just go to Nordstrom's and let them fix her up with the grown-up Garanimals.

Michelle's left shoe looks too big. You can make out her entire left heel and instep in that photo. I don't think she's wearing stockings either. Ouch.

Yeesh, looks uncomfortable. I don't claim to be a fashionista, but geesh, a First Lady (especially one who has fashionable friends like Oprah) should do better. Laura Bush always looked so lovely, yet she was completely ignored by the media...

I don’t understand why she wears gathered skirts. They only make her hips look larger. And someone should tell her not to point her toes inward. She claimed to have taken ballet lessons. I don’t believe her.

If she did, she cut class a lot. Being whacked with those wooden pointers will fix your posture once and for all. Ask me how I know.

There’s one button and one buttonhole visible at the top, just like at the bottom.

Boy, this is getting more confusing.....now, I see the button hole at the top, but sure don't see the corresponding button opposite. There's a white spot opposite, but that can't be the button since the rest are dark. Same thing at the bottom. I see the hole at the bottom but again outside of a white spot opposite, there's no button.

With MO’s luck if she had a fly, it would be down.
