Today suds, tomarrow beer (again), the cigaretts, then full-strength toilets, then black-market hospitals/clinics.
If push comes to shove, I would find it my duty to smuggle dishwasher detergent :) In Canada (and in Europe) smuggling ciggs has become a past time sport or criminal operation. Maybe the drug lords can grow tobacco instead of cocaine?

They passed the same regulation in Whatcom County, at the same time last year. You wouldn’t believe the number of people who stocked up on dish detergent at Costco, the week before the regulation went into effect.
I plan to switch to the dry type of detergent before this July, because I think it will have a longer shelf life. I plan to have a five year supply of dish detergent on hand.

I live in western NY and people have been going over to Canada to get "full strength toilets" for years now.

You laugh. They will smuggle anything that makes them a profit.

The State of Oregon House is voting soon on a similar ban. The Senate has already approved it.
What it will cause is double the water use because dishes will have to be pre-washed before they are sanitized in the DW. More water and more energy.
BTW commercial machines are exempt because the phosphate free soap does not work very well.

Right now I use the Energy Saver feature on my dishwasher, and it does an adequate job. But if this law goes into effect in NJ, I am going to have to use the Extra Wash/Sanitary feature, which uses twice the energy and three times the water.
I’m not exactly sure what the greenies are trying to accomplish, here...

Im not exactly sure what the greenies are trying to accomplish, here... It feeeeeeeeels good, and it demonstrates their "concern". That's all that really matters with the libs, not actual results.
