Me too!
Four or five cats is fine for almost anyone but there are lots of cat lovers who have more and handle it well.
Ours are strays that have wandered out of the woods and it is difficult no to want to keep a pretty one or an affectionate one, so I can see how some people could become overwhelmed with the number of cats.
All those cats probably work out just fine for awhile while everyone ages and health changes and a few things happen and it all falls apart. They could go broke, get hospitalized, whatever, and then the situation starts to stink all because of a warm hearted gesture.
I prefer dogs but we have 2 cats (9 years old) and I have really come to love them.
Oops, wrong thread to start reading with my lunch in front of me.......
Three are fine. Four is entering the danger zone.
What happens to these people usually starts out with people abandoning animals and these people take them in and it gets too much for spaying and nuetering and it just gets out of hand. Poor kitties.
I am a firm believer that when you accept an animal into your home they must become a member of the family. They must be loved and cared for and not be subjected to harmful/disgusting living conditions.
My parrot, Buddy and cockatiel, Kiwi are looking over my shoulder as I type this. :0)
I adore kitties, shame on you. I have 5 and everyone that comes in our home would not even know we have a cat.
100 is too many of any good thing.
Shame on you for dissing good kitties.
What you do is teach them to stay off your counters.
Use a spray bottle.
I think that An Engineer's Guide to Cats has addressed this subject in some detail.
cats are in over population becuase of no kill animal pounds, and groups with government backing (local level) run cat rescues, and feral cat feedings. got so bad, that a private property owner out here was forced by law (threat of charge of animal cruelity ) if he prevented treaspass of the feral cat feeders on his own land!!!
one cat is too much if the owners let it roam, pee on cars, scratches on cars, poop all over neighbors lawns, even in fenced yards. out door cats are a puplic health hazard and can make great property damage. I had over $5000 in one instance with one cat.
any cat “lover’ that lets their putty cat roam on other folks property is not only not taking good care of the cat, they are also totally disresprctful of their nieghbors.
who’s cleaning up after your cat? I’d sure like to see the same laws applied to cats as dogs, no loose cats! a loose dog cant get into my fenced yard, but the loose cats get into everthing. leash your cat when out side! respect your nieghbors.
Thanks, that was funny!

Personally, I don't own cats. I have birds, they are natural enemies. I am however considering getting a puppy, since our beloved Kate passed a few years ago.
Just remember ya can't herd cats. :0)
...Nearly 100 cats and one dog were found
...2 feet of feces in one room
...there wasn't one inch of the house that wasn't covered in feces or urine,
...were three foot piles of feces in the hallways.
You might classify that as an understatement, you think ?
BTW, Poor dog. One among 100 cats
They hate you more.
When we were house hunting we looked at a house that would have been pretty nice if not for the cat pee smell as well. The house was empty, so it was stale pee...and kitty poo on the carpet. It was a foreclosure. Not the worst of what we saw, but bad enough to be memorable.
That said, we have one cat, who doesn’t walk on the counters, uses her box, stays indoors all the time, enjoys bird and squirrel watching, and hates cats. Her worst trait is that she enjoys walking on people when they are sleeping.
